P-plater Laws July 1

Hey everybody.....

I was reading a thread a few days ago about the new laws coming into place in july 1 this year regarding P-platers. I'm

interested in buying a 1988 MR2 Supercharged but i'm not sure whether or not I would be allowed to drive it due to the

laws. Can somebody please tell me something thing about it coz i can't find anthing about the issues on the vic roads web

site???

people will tell you to do a search or call vicroads, but im nice so i'll tell you here

this law applies ONLY to people in victoria who aquire thier probationary drivery lisence ON or After the 1st of july 2007

the law states that you CANNOT;

- drive; turbocharged, supercharged, V8, and some still to be listed high powered 6 cylinder vehicles.

- modify the engine in anyway to increase power

- the original list of 125kw/tonne+ cars will still remain banned

a more severe penalty then the current $107 fine and no points will be enforced!

im not sure what it is, but ive heard anything from 3 points and a fine to suspension and confiscation, so im not quite sure on that!
