I know some of you guys may not agree with me on this point but i just want to know why do people want 'OFFERS' on their cars? Surely the person selling will have a rough ball park figure on their car. And best of all, after say an offer has been made, the person making the offer is snubbed for offering too low a price.

Cmon people, if you wanna geniunely sell just say how much, if not take your car to ebay then you can have as many offers as you like.

I'll second that (What JimX said). There is the odd 'sucker' that doesnt know what he is doing and rips himself off, you read about ti on these forums every now and then. Also the only other reason I can think of is if they themselves don't know the correct price, but that really just takes a bit of research. I think they will always have a better chance of selling if they leave a price. I know that if im looking fo rsomething to buy and it says "plz make offers" then chances are ill forget about it and leave it alone.

There are exceptions to every rule, but almost every sale I've seen on the net, whether in these forums or others, where a seller hasn't listed a ballpark figure to start from, it ends up wasting everyone's time and it doesn't get sold.

Many times (note: not ALL times) the seller won't even sell unless he gets a ridiculously high (clueless) offer.

A lot of the time unfortunately people are just curious as to what their car is currently worth, and like you said, if they were given some silly offer might consider trading to something else.

Generally though everybody else pins these people for what they are in the forsale thread... thats why i don't think refusing replies to each thread (which was considered i think) is a great idea.

Sometimes i so wanna say "are you ****ing kidding??" for some things, but of course, better judgement usually gets a hold of me and i stay silent. I don't like seeing people ripped off, but then again, buying a car is all about knowing what you are buying and for what price.
