Hi guys,

Knowing full well how to use the search function and even the sticky thread on skylines and wheel offsets, i've still not been able to find an answer for this....

Im looking at a set of these rims for my GTR R32 lowered on tein coilovers, in 18x9.5. The question posed is, what offset... They come in +15, +22, +28 and +34. Im even getting conflicting answers from potential suppliers of the rims haha... Going by the suitable TE37 offset for my car, which is +22, would the CE28n share this offset or do the different designs of the wheels change it? Ie, would a +22 on a ce28 be different from a +22 in te37 in fitment? I'm rambling so i'll just leave it there :P

+22 is +22. doesn't matter the wheel. but 18X9.5 on a low car I would say the +28 is a safer option, but +22 will fit too, but will limit you in tyre size, ie, you'll need 235 or 245 to make it work, 255 will hit your guards with a 9.5 +22.

just a quickie - careful how + offset you go

if you go too far, and the spokes are very inset (ie alot of dish) you may get caliper clearance issues...

having said that, i would think the +28 should be fine with std calipers

yeah my 33 had Te37's 18 x 9.5 in +12 sweet ass wheels nice clearances. ended up using them on cats drifter last year. Bit too much offset for the baby 32.... i had to fit 235's to clear the gaurds and looked abit wrong :laugh:

i run 17*9.5 +17 with 255/40 tyres. no issues with standard R32 GTR bodywork, but I do have about 3deg front static camber. Its also the Work wheel's recommended offset for BNR32 in 9.5" width. A +28 will be 11mm further inwards and may look a little underdone. I'd go +22 out of those available in your first post

it's funny because I currently have 17X9 +20 on my 32 running 255 dunlops all round. the fronts are ok, but the rears just touch the guard liners under hard cornering with 245s it may be ok. bear in mind standard size is 16X8 +30 so you are 2mm less offset and 1.5inch wider.

i dunno, it's up to you. the +22 9.5 MAY be ok, but it depends on:

what tyre (both size and brand make a difference)

how much camber

how low your car is

how much suspension travel in your set-up

the +28 is a safer option, the +22 potentially will look better, but you will be pissed if you find the biggest tyre you can run on your set-up without fouling is 235.

My 17x9 +22 foul the rear guards (Or did - I had them rolled) with 255 RE55's on them (RE55 are rumoured to be a bit wider than roadies marked with the same width).

On the front it is a different story. As you start to wind camber in the top of the tyre disappears into the guard. Everything clears ok, but it ends up looking undertyred. I could easilly run anything down to a +8 with only 2 and a bit degrees of -ve camber.

Bottom line is that +22 appears to be the default offset. But as the Baron said ride height & camber settings make a BIG difference to how the things look & how they fit.

I'd be interested to hear what ride height and camber you guys run on the rear to have trouble with those fitments.

mine has 1.5 deg static rear camber, 17*9.5 +17 255/40 tyres and no clearance issues at all. I'll have to check my ride height. I have a fair amount of travel in my setup, with Buddy Club coilovers that are heavily shocked but quite softly sprung, and use standard swaybars. Result is quite a bit of lean by mid corner - I have some photos at home that show how much body roll it gets.

I've also had 17*9 +15 on the rear with 245/45 and no clearance problems either.

I used to have a set of standard GTR wheels 16*8" +30, which I ran semi slicks on. Have you seen how far inside the wheelarches they sit? they make the gaurds look cavernous! I sold them to a mate with a S15 so I could get some wheels/tyres to take advantage of those huge wheelarches.

9.5" +17 sit about 32mm further outward and 6mm further inward than the standard wheel.

9.5" +22 would be 27mm further out and 11 further in than stock wheels. This puts the outer edge of the rim in the same spot as my old 17*9 +15.

9.5" +28 is obviously 21mm further out and 17mm further in than stock. This puts the outside edge roughly equal to both Beer Baron and djr81's 9" wheels give or take a mm each way.

so if you want extra clearance on the outside than those guys with a 9.5" wheel, you will need the +34 offset, which will give you that 6mm(+/-1mm) more clearance to the outer gaurd than Beer Baron and djr81, but the inside edge will be 23mm further in than a standard wheel & roughly 20mm further in than Beer Baron and djr81's 9" wheels

Its also worth noting that none of us have front clearance issues at all because of the camber we run, but there may be issues for a road car without camber correction depending on the rideheight and how much travel in your setup.

that should give you some info to make you're choice on (if it makes sense to read that is!)

all makes sense to me. :( good explanation. given that the 9.5 +28 will protrude out about the same as my enkeis I'd say they are a pretty good fit. with some allignment you could get the 255 on there no prob, and 245 should be a snack. the +22s I'm not so confident on, but if you don't mind the 235 or 245 tryes on them they should be fine too.

my rear camber is 1 deg 2 mins. rear toe is zero. ride height I'm not sure, but it's probably a little too low. suspension is nismo g-attack r-tune (ohlins). running 10kg front springs and 8kg rear and whiteline sway bars front and rear too. I'll see if I have a good pic showing how far out the rears are.

I'm going to throw some confusion in here now.

I've just put 18x9+30 factory R34 GTR on the car with 265 RE55s.

They look like they will foul the outer guard...

So i reckon if you go a 9.5+22 you might struggle with anything wider than a 255 road tyre (not semi) to clear the rear outer guard (if not rolled).
