Hi all, im new to the sau forums, just migrated from NS.com as i get rid of my 180sx for an R32 GTST but before i can get it there is a problem with the speedo, from what ive been told by the current owner, he took it to the carwash and gave it an underbody wash , on the way home the speedo stoped working as he was comming around the corner and at the same time the hicas light came on, as i figure it the speed sender will be in the gearbox and hicas will take a signal from there to know when to be on or off (dont know much about hicas i just figured it would take a speed sample) is the gearbox connection full of water or is it another problem common to the R32 GTST?

Cheers Brock

common 32 problem u have, snapped speedo cable (they snap at the instrument cluster)

both of my 32's i have owned have done it

pretty sure the cable is around 100 bucks from nissan and is a 1hour job to replace it yourself, you'll find the steering gets heavy and hicas light stays on because the hicas system cant sense the speed input.

the speedo cable needle just needed re-sleeving in mine because it was freely spinning inside the speedo cable. by taking the cluster out youll see what the problem is and can fix/replace from there

FWIW, i re-sleeved mine with a drinking straw 6 months ago and still havnt had any more dramas
