Thanks for the quick reply Roy covered everything there. Good to hear that a few of the SAU guys offer guidance on the day.

LOL...my type of guidance ..

"Ok your turn...now did you see my lines and braking points?"

"Yep"

"Well do the complete opposite and you will be fine, and quick" :whistling:

no way Sandown is scarier than PI!

am I a traitor for wanting to do the Maserati day there the week after instead? heaps less cars than the WRX days usually... I had 10+ laps in every session last time I went... bit pricier than the WRX days tho... hmmm

It's those damn walls that are so close @ sandown :whistling:

Do you seriously find you don't get enough laps in on WRX days? (just interested) as towards the afternoon they usually let you go out in any group you want since half the field has broken something or been pinged for noise or something ;)

last night was my first time at the sau anual meeting and i had a lot fun meeting every one and getting to know a few people out side of deca so i just wanna say thank you to every one for been such a great group of people and a great club to be involved with.

#ALSO I WILL BE DOING DRIVER TRAINING AT SANDOWN ON ANZAC DAY. :)

yeah WRX days I never seem to get more than a couple of clean laps in a row... Maser day I was flying around by myself until the brakes had melted! It helps heaps being able to do lots of back to back laps (in the same session as opposed to overall) and not have to wait around much in between... I can just push a tiny little bit harder every lap until I find the limit...

Sandown walls are scary but I don't look at them and the speeds and g loads through the corners are much less... PI I was just trying to grow some balls... trying to ease off the gas and just turn in instead of riding the brake coming up to the corner because I am not comfortable with just turning the wheel at 150km/h!

What's the hold up now Dane?

Dollar dollar bill y'all...

I've decided not to put the engine in until I get back from overseas, would rather amke sure I have enough spending money over there. The sleeving and all that is done, just not going to put the head on, or put it in the car for another few months. I'd rather wait and make sure it's all done properly than rush it.

My trip is looking more and more like being funded by a personal loan  Car is good. so im going to drive it as much as possible. Hell, it jsut means i will have to sleep on benchs and beaches when OS, umm, actually ...

I will be sending my form off tomorrow (express post).

What do I regarding my competition number? It says enter preferred number on the entry form, but will they get back to me before the event with a number so that I have time to buy the appropriate stickers? And where can I get these numbers apart from revolution racegear?

Thanks (and sorry again for the newbie questions)

Yeh if you have race car with a permanent decal then they try to cater for that.

Also, updated first thread with those doing driver training and the guys you can to ride shotgun or have a steer to show you the lines.

if you need me i can help, but you'd be better off using the others first since this will be my first time at sandown...

    • Throwing my spoon to the soup here a bit.  When I installed a 044 back in 2012, along with the direct power mod, the car became very difficult to start. To a point I burned one starter motor as I was late for work and tried to get the thing going. With some tuning and careful use of gas pedal when cranking it became bearable. Trying to make this short as possible, but the 044 died after 2-3 years, after which I went with an AEM 320lph pump, which also died after about 4 years to my dismay. After that I went with a Nismo pump, and while trying diagnose an emissions problem, I noticed for the first time that my fuel pressure was 5bar/72psi on idle, and that removing the vacuum line did nothing. After monitoring the situation, and removing the direct power feed and going back to FPCM in attempts to remedy it, I noticed there was fuel in the pressure regulator vac line. Kept the FPCM, installed AEM external regu and the car became sooo much better in every way, including starting. And I had driven it like it was for 11 years.. Anyway, I agree these are likely two different problems, and the FP problem you just haven't noticed before. I do not know much about haltecs, but what first came to mind was the CAS, which probably is not there any more. So how is the wiring from haltec to gauge cluster? How is the battery voltage and alternator?
    • Your car was auto before? You have different diff ratio (auto vs manual i think? or n/a and turbo?)
    • +1 for getting a screen off alibaba, CarPlay/Android Auto is vastly better than whatever navigation cars had 10 years ago. I got an Android screen for my 2015 BMW, huge difference. Fully compatible with factory stuff including iDrive controls.
