hey,

i'm looking at entering, so need to fill out a Car Classification Form. does anyone know, or know where i can find, the differences between say the modified and super-modified classes? and what's the associate class?

or, if ryan or matt see this, do you know what class my car would go in?

cheers

Yeh if your in the Bluey you will be in associate class.

It looks like the SAU guys are about half the entries so far.

If people are keen to start entering these sorts of events, or just love their motorsport, then its a great idea to come down and look at whats going on. The WRX Club are always grateful for the support our members give with officials. Its a great vantage point by teh track watching the quick guys fly up into/out of corners. Anyone that has flagged can tell you its pretty cool place to watch the action.

Keeping my salesmans hat on for a second, you can actually use these events to get the experience to become a CAMS official which will allow you to official at State and National meets. Fancy being trackside at a V8 round? Im going to do it so i can black flag that shiela Rick Kelly :)

How can Sandown scare you after PI? Sandown is great fun. Big ripple strips to hammer over. A few big stops to wrestle the car under brakes for...its great fun in any car. (Unlike PI :) )

The walls that are close to the track.... At least at PI the walls a further away even if your going that fast that the run off isn't enough, it still makes you feel a bit better :)

I'm out. can't take another beating from a truck driver.

hahahah took me a few seconds to figure that one out - whats the real reason? Single spinner?

Winton may be the spiritual home for Team Wang, but Sandown is the home of BTR :)

Whats BTR?

I'm out. can't take another beating from a truck driver.

That's some funny shit!!!!

Now who else can I chase around the track??? Maybe Voss in the purple MPC car...

I don't think I'll be doing any PB's, my best time was getting towed around by another faster guy. :)

I'm faxed and ready to GO!!!!!

Aaron, you still coming for a look???

Oops. Just fried my data logger :D

Installing some new firmware for it and the laptop died. Now when i plug it in the laptop doesnt recognise that a device has been connected. When i un plug the laptop and start the car the onoly thing the logger does is flah through the gear indication LEDS :)

Shit...time to ship it back to Italy for it to be re-flashed :) Shit.

At this point in time there will be Driver Training run in conjunction with the usual sprints, so post up if you are interested in doing Driver Training on the day.

I'm interested in doing the driver training seeing as I have never raced at Sandown before, how many driver training sessions are run during the day on average?

Do any of the SAU guys instruct or is it WRX club people only?

Also with regards to the db limit, do GT-R's with your usual large exhaust systems frequently go over this limit?

Thanks, sorry for the questions but I'm a bit of a circuit newbie...

If you do Driver Training then you normally get 3-4 sessions. (much like everyone else) The instructors can be both SAU or WRX. Normally we try to use SAU instructors for the SAU guys. Normally the like of Aaron34, Scotsman, Belsil80, Snowman and myself can do the SAU guys. I dont think Jag33 normally does it but like a few others have the experience and maturity to walk you around the track.

If you are happy enough, and the Instructor is happy, the Clerk of Course may allow you to run in a sprint but thats a case by case basis.

Not many cars have had trouble with noise at Sandown. Though there was an alarming number of cars having troubles with PI. So if your car is very loud then it may pay to try and address it before the day. I was hoping to but im running out of time....so if you are loud just be prepard to be warned and maybe short shift the rest of the day.

    • Reasonably hard, although I haven't run it with the new Endless setup yet. The old brakes were F50's on 335mm rotors and the car did a 1:40.6 at Phillip Island which is a reasonable time, I'm seeing high 600s on the temperature paint. A guy I know ran the Endless fluid at WTAC without issues and he was doing 1:33's I think (Evo) with a 355/332 setup. I don't get out to the track as much as I'd like but we put the car on the hoist and spanner check every bolt and re-paint mark everything, bleed the brakes, change the fuel, check the coolant system and re-bleed blah blah blah before every event. Motorsport is expensive, RB's are expensive so a couple of hours before an event is time well spent. It's also a net time saving because if you can keep your RB from self destructing it saves you time in the long term!
    • Welcome Alice......hope you have a bit more luck from here on! What was done in the build?
    • Hello! I'm new here, I have an R33 GTST that is currently being finished up! Last year was pretty rough, blew two stock turbos so I decided to build the car. Has been down since November, but I get it back next weekend!
    • Hello, I believe my car was imported to America in the 2000s by Kaizo Industries. Would anyone be able to help me find more info on them? I've only found all the basic stuff like that paul walker bnr34, them being shutdown by feds, just stuff like that. Any help would be much appreciated, thanks!
    • I am using Motec M150.  I am not working on the car myself actually.  My workshop is giving all these info, they are quite reputable in the industry and are very familiar with Motec and RBs and have done a few big setups with VCam and single turbo on RBs.  In fact, they built and tuned my engine from day one.  But they are stumped with my engine at the moment and cannot work out how come the compression is so low with the VCam. They told me that they have now swapped in some Kelford cams (without the VCam) and can achieve around 130psi compression and the low end torque is better, but now the engine is doughy as.  It boosts and peaks at more than 1000rpm slower, with twin HKS GTIII RS, it doesn't get full boost until over 5000rpm. I have always thought the VCam was a bit disappointing at the low rpm. To a point I had to ride the clutch a fair bit to get up a small hill from stand still.  That was when I had a clutch.  Now changing to a 8HP, I don't have that luxury and this problem has become a major issue. I am beginning to think the VCam never work since the day it was installed.  Maybe it was just sitting at the most advanced point, that is why it went good at top end but very ordinary at the bottom.  Therefore, with the help of the Holinger 6 speed and paddle shift, as long as it was moving, it drove pretty good.
