what has this got to do with the price of fish in China?

It's the FACTORY weight of the vehicle without passengers...

You might aswell bash your head against a wall...

More productive than trying to make people understand basic english at times i reckon

Well it does have a fair bit to do with it.

Some people might read your post, and go... oh ok that might be true

And then another stupid question results from it.

And then poor ole marcus is once again, back out there bashing his head against a wall

I used to have a sticker on my old car, maybe I should get it reprinted. It said: Don't ban high performance cars, ban low performance drivers!

I would so buy one of these man :bunny:

People around my area are just insane, i have no idea how they got a licence

Cheers,

Sean

That statement originated from the supercar scare in the early 70's when the factory race teams didn't get their V8 toranas, Phase 4 falcons and V8 chargers...

I remember hearing that Peter Brock had the sticker on his road car.

That's the idea, you can thank the smack tards who do street racing in turbo vehicles and V8's for this crap. This is the government reacting to public out cry. Get used to it.

95% of the cars I see street racing car V6 Commodores, and this new rule doesn't stop them from being driven, so I doubt it'll change shit.

Come stand out the front of my place one night (dandenong rd)

You'll see plenty of overpowered cars getting into the traffic light GP.

So very true......

That white r33 I spotted on Dandenong road (refer to spotted thread) was a P plater dragging a VL turbo who also was a P plater obvioulsy doing way more than 80km/h.

So in light of actually seeing P Plater smack tards in high powered cars driving like idiots bring it on I say. For 2 reasons.

1. Shannons have devalued my car and increased my premium from the number of written off GTS-T's by younger drivers.

2. Maybe this might get cops off my back because of the reputation been set by P plater drivers trying to be a fast and the furious want a be.

Obviously by half the comments on this thread by younger drivers your maturity and attitude shows that you shouldn't be driving such vehicles in the first place. Who cares if your driving a V6 commonhore or not the point is that is is obvious that with amount of disrespect shown towards Police and other drivers on the road that this attitude will only make the government think seriously about increasing the P plater minimum age from 18 to 20. So continue whinging like a bunch of school kids and prove the government right.

From experience the people complaining the most about these laws and the hoon laws are generally the people who don't follow the rules and make it harder for all drivers on the forum who own vehicles in this class. This even includes current P Plate drivers who I have meet through this club in person there is a large number of drivers on the forum who are on there P's and do drive responsibly. These people become the targets of a minority of immature fools who think they are better than everyone else.

Yeah i had the same thing in mind, but i know people in skylines do stupid shit too...its just a bit unfair that skylines will be directly affected by the new laws...

They arent "being" affected.

There already are, they have been for years and years

Yeah i know that but more so for new p plate drivers...and now skylines will become a new type of target where every one of us (p platers in lines) will be pulled over to see if we are a new p plater or not.

IF your on ur Ps just buy a ke30 corolla thier animals or better get a daihatsu charade u can almost hit 60 in 2mins  even in a slow car you can crash it just what ur doing behide the wheel. i reackon more harder on drink drivers!! and old ppl going back for a Licences test.. and get rid of hoonhot line waste of time coz if someone gets pissed off behide you coz your driveing slow or doing the limit they call hoonhotline to get back at u......

Thankgod I'm on fulls.

Though i do have a question, My younger brother who has a, Nissan Silvia CA18DET Manual. Stock as a rock.

He is going for his P's in May, though if he fails his P's in may he might not be able to Rebook untill July if worst comes to worst.

What I'm wanting to know is, i noticed they had some Turbo Car exceptions for the new P-Plate laws. Would a Silvia CA18DET may be an exception?

Come on lets be serious it really isn't a high powered turbo car.

What do you think? He might be able to get away with it?

Your brother can't drive the Silvia mate. The only turbo cars you can drive are diesel turbos and

Suzuki Cappucino 2D Cabriolet Turbo 3 cylinder 689cc, and

Daihatsu Copen L880 2D Convertible 4 cylinder 659 cc.

Cheers

Well, I was affected by the new red P plates when they came out many years ago, to make up for the inconvenience it caused me with the power restrictions I drove like an asshole. I couldn't afford a fast car initially so just drove with my foot flat to the floor.

There is a way around everything, you can still get into plenty of trouble with Mr. plod with a slow car, just try to race everyone and don't lift your foot off the throttle to change gears.

(deep voiced disclaimer)

Please disregard this post if you have no sense of humour or are an idiot, if you just had to pause to consider if you may well be an idiot....... let me assure you ....you are!

    • Thanks for your insight, it being basically useless will impact my decision for sure. I thought it may help the engine breath better I guess. But then again, I have also been told that tuning an RB20DE is also not worth it. Exactly, we follow EU Regulations. There is a bit more leeway on older vehicles. My Porsche 924 came without a cat from factory and managed to pass, they still mentioned that I have quite high emissions on it though.
    • My apologies, I stand corrected. Thanks for registering to mention this! And thank you for actually reaching out to the council to clarify. This is the sensible thing to do and the opposite of what I was alluding you were doing. I may have seen too much outrage and hate being fueled on the internet and it has made me a somewhat cynical old man. Sometimes it is easy to forget that there are real people behind websites and accounts. In my defence, CarExpert and CarExplore do read quite similarly at a glance. I shall try and do better in the future. (Please stick around to get the latest scoops on dealing with old Nissan shitboxes )
    • Don't bother. The poor little RB20 doesn't make enough gas flow to challenge the flow capabilities of even the littlest cat, and you won't make any extra power, and all you'll do it soot up your rear bumper. Plus....is Malta not runing under Euro regs?
    • Hey Daniel, sorry to hear that and thanks for posting up for us at a really hard time I only knew SmoothLine through the forums, we never met as we are based in different states, but when he was most active on here he was quite a while back so not many of the current crowd might remember him. I am pretty sure he was active in the Queensland SQU club but that is defunct now too (times are changing and we are all getting older). Farewell SmoothLine!
    • Turns out depending on whether the car was equipped with TCS or not there are different signals coming to the dash, meaning there are different speedo clusters.  Wired in a speedo calibrator box from aliexpress and now works fine.
