LTHLRB that is not the case even with me. i had to rotate front and rear housing about 4 times to get it spot on. and no i didnt bend any lines what so ever :)

*im not flaming anyone but this was the case

Lthlrb, that is not the point of the thread, please don't get sidetracked, I don't want to turn this into a flame war - this is about reversion, and bovs!

But, me, r33god, and CEFIE and other people I know had to rotate the housing, lines had to be bent, because they didn't line up (no my stock lines weren't bent - when I saw that it didn't line up, I took the turbo off, put the stock one on, and they lined up perfectly). The catridge was about 1-2 cm from having the oil inlet facing upwards, and the water banjo holes facing striaght sideways. My turbo was installed by my friend who is a mechanic/fabricator/fitter turner, so he's not some backyard bogan who doesn't know what he's doing.

for discussion of installation, pleae do so in nic's thread.

so do you know why the bov isn't opening at low rpm, and causing chop chop, whereas it did open with the stock turbo?

cause it dosent have enough pressure to open it. i heard it will only open at 10psi and up?

correct me if im wrong please :)

on another note i had to ajust/bend my actuator forward so the wastegate stays closed when im not boosting. i fixed that today and boost comes on much earlier ;)

That's what I was saying to paulr33 above - that was his theory that at 3k rpm, the highflow might only have 4 psi, whereas the stock turbo may have had 7

but this is what I said - did your stock turbo ever flutter? mine never did, whether releasing at 1 psi, or 20 psi.

ur bov is prob farked. I dont really know my blow off valves.. i dont run them and dont like them...

I found with my bov connected it surges HARD like it will come onto boost. anything past 9 - 10psi it will go CHOO CHOO CHOO CHOO CHOO all the way thru the rev range untill i let go. std bov = gay

my turbo actually didnt and isnt giving me hastles (will needa c if it produces the power i was told it will produce) Fits perfectly on my new engine and i have pics to prove.

Your pics don't prove anything. You can have a look at a pic of the turbo installed in my car. looks like it's standard. You can't tell that iv'e rotated the housing or that i've bent lines.

My stock bov is fine. Tested the mechanism in it, and it's the same as before.

i wouldnt worry about it man it sounds good, and wont harm the turbo, well not at a lower boost level where it does flutter.

oh yea..my msn's on. sign out and back in. mines fine

but im too lazy to rotate a turbo around and stuff lol its not like im lying to you, im saying, that when aaron sent the turbo, i put it directly on my new engine iv built and wallah, fits fine.

You may have another case, but i dont agree that you got ripped or anything (you shouldnt have baught it if u are complaining now)

Maybe wind the boost up?

i got another point...

My mate has a 500hp hypergear external gated high mount turbo, He made a front facing plenum, there was that much pressure iin the piping and all that 6psi seized the throttle and it couldnt shut, he now runs a hks ssq bov, which on 6psi sounds like hell!

I'm not complaining! It runs like a 12 year old kid with a porno mag. Like I said to you above, I don't care about the isntall of it! that's not the purpose of this thread. I'm triyng to understadn why the bov was opening stock and isn't opening now!

Obviously you didn't have to rotate it, because you got braided lines, whcih are flexible - the reason why I had to rotate, is to give the metal lines the best chance of fitting on wiht the least bending.

I don't have a front mount. I have a sidemount. All the front mount does is amplifies the sound (echoes through the chamber)

And before anyone says omg, get a front mount before you get a turbo - I have one, I just tested with a sidemount to see if the reversion was still there with the sidemount, and it was.

not everyone had the joys you did with it fitting straight on :) regardless of the mucking around we did its a fantastic turbo.

im happy ;)

Ever seen a compressor map? they're not exactly linear.. what someone was trying to say earlier is that even at 4psi and 2k rpm, the stock turbo is probably still flowing enough air to open the bov. I'm no expert, but that makes perfect sense to me.

hey ducki, are you running a pod filter? or standard airbox. If you're running the airbox, you probably won't hear anything, or it'll be very very little.

I've tried my airbox, even with a Kn panel, and I almost oculdn't hear any noise.

manwhore.

try this, disconnect the hose that goes to the bov....the one that comes from the plenum.

take it for a drive and u should have that flutter.....then plug the hose back in and see if the noise changes....if it doesnt i'd be guessing that the bov isnt working.

thats my theory for the day....

Yogi, the bov is working, aboive 4k rpm
