car has previously run 11.70 with veyr little mods.

looking at running 22-25psi on shoot-out mode with some avgas added to the fuel, up the octane!

im hoping for 400rwkw, but i think these turbos will be my downfall! see hwo we go!

so let me know what you think, or how you reckon the car will go, and similar power figures maybe some of you have had!

cheers to all that have taken the time to read about my project! and if you see it cruising around flash ya lights whatever!

hope to see some of the fellow sydneysiders out at wsid when i go for the 10sec pass, on cruises, track days and at shopping centre car parks! hahahha yeah right!

see ya later all.

thanks

Garth

330-350rwkw. Stock cams will be your downfall there and will limit you around that point.

After than, you wont get over 400rwkw on PULP. Probably 370-380rwkw, could be a bit more. Depends on how happy the dyno is really.

Dont use AVGas. Just use a properly designed fuel like Sunoco, C16, Elf Turbomax and the others that dont come to mind

If you do use decent fuel, you should be able to make 420-440rwkw with as much boost screwed in as you can

So thats my bets in. Pretty general, but its pretty much what everyone else is making, so you shouldnt be a lot different in that regard

And btw - drop your sig size, its waaay to big (check the forum guidelines for sizing) :pwned:

I've heard there is unleaded avgas out and about now if you can find it.... I was thinking of running it for the next tune...

I'm not too sure the stock bov's will handle much past 15psi and may leak.

Avgas is designed for aero engines that turn over at a low rpm setting at constant speeds for hours on end. Not for an RB26. Use the proper fuel as it will burn better & generate more horsepower.

What rev limit you using im worried about pushing mine any futher then 8500rpm with the N1 oil pump. i think with cams you can run 360-380rwkws you will not need more for the street, if you need more for the Drag track just add 50-100 shot of NOS. And invest in GTR gearboxs HAHAHA

As for current power 315rwkws at 20psi my guess

Stock GTR BOV's are good for over 600rwkw.

They are good for a measly 15psi with small twins :D

thanks for the imput!

i believe i have the right set-up (with the cams) to make 400rwkw, if not, go shopping and buy a big single and external, then hope to mkae 500rwkw! it just keeps going on and on...

endless $$$ hahaha. thats cars!

thanks for all the responses and i will let everyone knwo the results when i get them!

thanks Garth

why buy a gtr to boast about the RWkw? theres a reason theyre 4wd and a reason there are 4wd dyno, if u wanted a high rwkw car, then why a gtr? i reakon 336rwkw :D

Edited by dead32

Why are you guys having a go at him? Sounds like he's doing this to get a 10 second quarter mile, not to get 400rwkw.

I think you will get it, the 10 that is. Dunno why you wouldn't put cams in while building the engine though.

Its definatly not impossible to make 400rwkw on pump but it will cost you - proper head and chamber work

done by someone who knows there sh#t, def cams and possiblly valves only said valves cause

thats what it took for us to make 435rwkw (98) and made it on more than one DD dyno.

thanks for everything guys, at the moment im not changine the cmas on the run in tune! just wanna drive it. and yes i wanna crack the 10second barrier in my GTR. as for the rwkw, just easier way to measure power i guess, against other cars, cause not many cars will be keeping up with it around a track or on the old pac! hahaha!

nah im sure there are other fast cars out there that will probably beat it, but thats fine.

as for racing on the streets, nah dont do that, my dad would kill me as he builds drag cars for a living! so to answer it no i dont race, but i give it a squirt here and there! nothing crazy!

sounds good about c16 i think, avgas was my question as i could get it readily from a good friend of mine, and i work in the aviation industry!

as for the power figures, i was guessing 380rwkw with cam and c16, but if it gets more beautiful! and if it doesnt run a 10 second 1/4mile time, ditch them turbos and put the big single on, just to run a 10! keep the twin set-up for track days etc!

thanks to all for comments and advice, appreciated highly!

but cams will be done before the big tune... only going to use the poncams anyways! so it aint that big of a job is it?

cheers guys i will try and post some pics up soon if i can get them to load without being to big!

thanks once again!

  • 3 weeks later...

garth how u goin dude...

u will get high 10 second passes with the setup u got now..

it was my car before and i was passing the line at 119.9 mph... with shithouse launches due to not wanting to break the box.

this was with only a clutch, dash 5's, and boost, still retained stock ecu and fuel system and mount, and obviously an exhaust

119.9 mph is pretty close to a 11.0 pass, that was with 19 psi screwed in..., with afew more psi, you wont have a problem catching 10.80, i recon...

only if u can drive it like me...

lol

speak 2 u soon dude.

denis.

    • Latest round of updates on the car. I purchased and installed a SWS clutch slipper to help with 60ft times and got some second-hand good condition 275/40R17 Hoosier DR2 radials. Test and tune in November showed the tyres were an upgrade over my over 15 year old mickey Thompson's and I got a 1.8 second 60ft and pb et of 11.71 but even then, that run wasn't great due to rain and driver error (the event got called off 10 minutes later fast forward to the weekend just gone 25th of Jan and there was finally a break in the weather to let racing happen. The first run the track was slippery and only managed a 12.1@129 Second run the track was better and got a new pb et and mph: 11.54@131   Lith and I then worked out that I installed the previously mentioned clutch slipper incorrectly and its never been working, and I had just been dumping the clutch the entire time, we also noticed it was on street boost and not race boost. So I lined up for a third run with the car turned up in the first two gears, but the passengers side axle objected to clutch dumps and left the chat which stopped my weekend.   so there will be another attempt in the future once I replace the tyres as they rubbed and are stuffed now. but a low 11 should be on the cards.
    • Ceramic coating and heat shielding, you mean?
    • Turbos don't require pulling the motor apart so that's "easier". I would recommend the Nismo R3 turbos instead if you want to do stock twin turbo. It doesn't make as much power as the 2530s but it's only like ~50 whp off the mark and should have better response (ball bearing CHRA, slightly smaller turbo). A local that went with a Garrett G30 and 6boost manifold recently nearly burned his car to the ground after the hood insulator started melting and and burning so if you go single turbo I recommend doing a lot of research and validation work to make sure you don't do the same.
    • New rear lights, filler panel sprayed, cleaned and back together    before, during, after shots 😍
    • 100% is gyprock, I agree. Slip of the keyboard. Haha! I left my indicator bulbs out to save a bit of weight.
