Hi All,

I'm hoping someone can help. I was driving last night to my mates when suddenly all my interior lights went out. My instrument cluster lights, my gauge lights, my cigarette lighter light etc. All of them went out suddenly. However my interior door/lamp thingy still works fine. Also maybe related maybe not, my rear lights don't turn on anymore either, when i brake they work fine.

I checked all the fuses in the dashboard fuse box, they're fine, the fuses in the engine bay thingy where you jump start the car are all good, and last but not least the rear fuses next to the battery are all fine except the one that says its for the rear lights. I know what your thinking, problem solved! replace the fuse! Well i did, 8 times the last 4 with higher amp fuses to no avail. The moment i turned the lights on to test them bang the fuse would blow without fail.

So my questions are these, WTF???? is wrong wit my car? it was working fine and now its not. Why are my interior lights suddenly? wahts the cause and how do i fix it? Why does the fuse keep blowing for my rear lights, when i put a new one back in?

Please help im desperate. Night driving in a jet black skyline is not a good idea when ur rear lights are f**ked. esp in vic with the cops loving to pick on anything.

Thanks Guys, any pointers would be much appreciated, if any auto elecs are floating around in here i'd appreciate a diagnostics routine i could follow to isolate the F#@KING problem.

In the fuse box under the bonnett there are some relays im not exactly 100% if the correct one is there but there will be a relay controlling your lights, dash etc. its prolly burnt out. these are the big square plug on things under there. check that one of them doesnt look corroded. if it looks all burnt n stuffed find one the same. i think i used air con once before as its not as important and plug it in and see if it works. i think there is also some realays where the ecu is in the passenger footwell to the left near the door. open the panel and have a look also but i bet u its under the bonnet.

ill be able to check for you later today when i go to my garage down south to see if i can trace it for you. it wont be a fuse though. it will be a square thing n it will probably have written on it things like n.c, c, n.o and xxx amount of AMPS its rated to.

i think the biggest problem is that all descriptions are in japanese. maybe google it as well.

Thanks Callum, i'd appreciate if you could narrow down the search for the relay thingy. Thats what my gut was telling me, too if not a fuse something else. I ws hoping you might also know, on the wiring of a skyline do you know what else runs on the same fuse as the rear lights? Cos i know i have a short somewhere i just dont know where and its blowing my rear light fuse in the boot next to battery..
