had a quick look tonight and that spot actually is looking better an better Ronin assume u used the bolt holes for the power steering lines,

Had wanted to tuck mine up near the drivers side engine mount but I dunno if I am going to manage to fit it in their though its tight!!

Don't give up it does fit there. I just mounted mine up there using a fabbed plate mount bolted thought one of the empty bolt holes on the engine side of the mount. I made the plate up to follow the engine mount to chassis join so it couldn't rotate with an angled piece out into the gap between diff and mount to take the filter unit. Filter sits base down so oil doesn't pour everywhere when changing and its tucked ou of the way.

Just pay attention to the angle of the line coming from the original filter position. You will find you need to make the mount at a strange angle (ie not 90 degrees) to ensure the line clears the engine mount. From the filter to the cooler (thermostat) I used a 90 degree fitting to allow the line to go forward and across the cross member to the LHS.

I can grab some pics on the weekend if you like as the car will likely be up on stands again so I can finish off the ducting to the cooler in the LHS wheel well.

WRRR would love to see some pics, though I think I follow what your saying? Some pics of your ducting idea's would be good to as I will be needing to do similar and am away at work for 5 days so plenty of time to plan the job

Ronin I guess yours being mounted lower you would have more chance of getting ALL The old oil out when changing oil too

Something I am kinda concerned about hence I dont want to resort to mounting high in the engine bay in front of the strut tower like so many others do, if the relocator is the lowest point in the system much more chance of draining all the old oil out.

    • Ok will do, I think I originally had 1 bolt off for the sway bar on when I took off the strut but will give this a ago. Thanks Duncan! My sway bar has play also when I move it around, hoping that's the source of my squeaking because I can't find anything wrong elsewhere
    • odd. I thought all the top race teams used them.
    • undo the sway bar link, put it on last. put a jack under the outer ball joint on the lower control arm to raise the hub and off you go
    • I don't know how this is even possible. I removed the strut to do some work (it came out fine, and keeping in mind that I didn't put things back in the same order, but did this on purpose because I was supposed to remove the strut originally instead I tried to remove other shit first which made things a head ache) but now the problem is that it won't go back in. The alignment between where the bolt hole for the strut is and the j arm where the strut slides onto is way off, about a 10cm difference or more. In order to make it fit I'd somehow need to push it up. I tried to compress it with a spring compressor and install it but the compressor was getting in the way and there was no working room. On the photo you can see the difference between the shock and the thread that it's supposed to go on. The only things I removed in total were - the top bolts for the j arm but I didn't remove the actual j arm - the 3 bolts that hold the plate for the brake lines - the sway bar link (this bolted on back fine) - the strut/shock absorber
    • LOL that sounds pretty conclusive! Yeah if it doesn't work on a tight nut, it doesn't work.
