1) SARDs are "generally" OK being a drop in injector that re-uses the old plugs

2) Camshafts? Might as well get the Tomei Poncam + Gear package if you got $5k to play with

3) Nismo / Tomei fuel pump will kick Bosch ass anyday

4) Nismo FPR (straight bolt on to the factory fuel rail)

Sards are not direct fit from what i saw. I watched them being installed onto a GTR two weeks ago :)

Was a bit of farting around to get the connector to fit, least they are not as bad as years ago... if you count that as a good thing

Cams for 300rwkw you wont need i dont think cost vs gain the cam gears come out clear winners for a couple hundred.

Dont see how one fuel pump is better than another, especially when price comes into it

I also doubt you'll need an FPR. Stock ones are fine.

Hanyou, send a pm to ferni, find out his setup as he has around 300rwkw on stock AFM/injectors.

Cheers

So the plugs need to be changed / adapted with the SARDs?

I'd go for the camshafts - 300rwkw + high flowed turbos will be more than enough to make use of the cams (I'm only talking about Poncams here 260 degree 9.15mm lift).

Fuel pump; Tomei and Nismo take 20minutes to install... Bosch pumps take more because 1) there is no bracket; 2) you have to locate a good place for fuel pickup that will also reach the bottom 3) you need to do new wiring (possibly even the constant voltage trick). For the extra $200 I would get a pump that is completely drop in with nothing to worry about.

FPR is not required; agreed. Nonetheless - not a bad thing to have if you want to push out that little bit extra or set a base pressure to go by - I know of a few tuners who do this.

I'd be looking at a catch can system as well - quite a few GTRs with 300rwkw start to experience oil problems (especially those that see a lot of track time).

Yeah from what i saw

Needed some love, wasnt a direct fit, and, even with the mod... i wouldnt be confident of them not presenting issues further in time

ive decided cam gears will be enough, i've pm'd ferni about his setup as well. however id be assuming that the injectors/fuel pump would be running right to their limit?.

another question: do injectors need to be fitted same time with engine management?.

back onto the fuel pump topic. the only reason i was gna opt for the nismo/tomei pump was due to there is no sock thats attatched to the bosch?. ive had a 040 in my r33 gtst before didnt have any problems. i guess it just comes down to who installs it?

Get the engine management and the injectors put in at the same time and save of installation/tuning costs unless you install the ECU yourself (I did with my PFC) and run on the base map for a short while.

f**k pfc get a wolf v500 $1795.00

Real helpful

things i think you need.

nismo pump

sard 700cc injectors (they are pretty much a direct fit on RB26, perhaps you will need new o-rings, but i have seen people re-use them).

tomei poncams 260/9.15mm (get the set with pulleys, it's cheap)

Apexi Power FC

and a good boost controller if you don't have one already. easy as pie. and the nismo pump and power FC you can install yourself to save a couple of bucks.

AFM.s You will need the RB25 or Z32 Type...Plus adaptors....

Or if you have the money...Nismo type...same size as yours...fit on and tune

Sorry, but you are wrong. Unless hanyou's AFM's are already on the way out there is no need to change them.

offnsv: have you got a part number for those injectors? thanks

ill stick with the nismo pump option then since i can do it myself lol.

can someone explain the difference between poncams and cams? or are they the same thing?..

if i could save money on just using cam gears to hit my power level it would be better for me as i could get some rims.. LOL

poncams=cams. it's just tomei's name for their bolt in camshaft range.

i'm not sure how well these turbos perform so it's hard to say, but it certainly is possible to get 300rwkw without cams as long as you have the right turbos and run enough boost through them.

personally I would buy the cams and gears together from tomei. the set is quite cheap for what you get.

    • Sorry no - The sandtrap adventure ended the day, happened at the end of the last session. At that time I wasn't hearing any weird noises nor were the brakes shuddering anymore. It was only when watching the videos that I remembered I had these sounds early on!
    • Did the noise appear after your sand trap adventure? Could be something got dislodged and is playing rub rub. Even a rock wedged somewhere.
    • Is there a shroud around the tailshaft spline into the back of the box? They can rub and make a horrible noise if they are not on straight/damaged. The heat might have caused it to grow too much in one direction and rub.
    • Strangely I noticed it either disappear later in the day, or not be present. I definitely noticed when I was crawling around that open wheel thingy entering the pits (that part was audible in car). Driving home and commuting around town for example, I didn't hear it. It's plausible that it was a brake disc or something still slightly in contact. The brakes absolutely felt BAD for the first couple of sessions, huge amounts of shudder and grinding as they got up to temp - And then I actually just forgot about it as the day went on/didn't notice it. The videos were from the morning when this was more present than the afternoon/drive home when it wasn't. I've asked around and got a variety of responses including handbrake shoe contacting hub, CV joints, CB tailshaft bearing as above, and clutch input bearing. I didn't test if it disappeared when clutch was in. I haven't noticed it in any of the other videos nor did I notice it when driving to that extent. More or less hoping the microphone at the rear license plate giving some kind of clue of 'something' but it looks like "spin stuff and see if you can notice it" is the way forward here. I could be smart and use the gopro mic and re-mount it to that location to see if the sound is still present at low speed actually. Sounds like a decent test whenver I have the CBF'ness to drive the car again. Given it's almost 40C for the day of the track day and the next 3 days after, the CBF is high. All I've done since getting home is unpack the car, remove the remnants of the lip and undertray and left it there. I was surprised how well the PMU Club Racers actually worked. The brake performance on the track was absolutely fantastic, best I've ever personally used, no fade whatsoever and the bitiness was almost too good, I was scrubbing more speed off than I needed to, but I also ended up infield when I started trying to scrape off ... less speed.... so...
    • Not really, no. Anything you would do is easily reversible.
