SoOkY
Does anyone know how hard or expensive it is to put a RB20 into a s14a 200sx? I wanna turn my bro's silvia into a skyline like mine lol Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/16463-rb20-conversion/ Share on other sites

Sydneykid
So you want to take out an all alloy 2 litre engine designed in the 90's and replace it with a cast iron block 2 litre engine designed in the 80's. Why? Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/16463-rb20-conversion/#findComment-337332 Share on other sites
R32-GTS
Yeh but the 80's engine destroys the 90's engine also cast iron block stronger. The case is closed. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/16463-rb20-conversion/#findComment-337596 Share on other sites
T0nyGTSt
There are a few s13 silvias running around with rb20det transplants. It does affect handling. I wouldn't do it to an s14 though. T. Sydneykid
R32-GTS, "Yeh but the 80's engine destroys the 90's engine also cast iron block stronger. The case is closed." And the car handles like a bag of poo with all that extra weight over the front end, stops way worse, is a bugger to work on because of lack of space, what gearbox, tailshaft mods etc etc. You can get 400 bhp out of an internally standard SR20 same as you can out of an internally standard RB20. Except the average RB20's is more likely to have done heaps more K's as they are 5 years older. So they will need a rebuild to get to the same conditiion as an average SR20. Puting an RB25DET into an S13 in place of a CA18, maybe. But an RB20DET in place of SR20DET in an S14 makes no sense to me. Hope that clarifies my position. Roy
Id die if my RB could keep up with my friends SR which is internally stock with Nizpro turbo and 1.2bar. SRs can motor. If the SR has blown up, i can perhaps see the sense in installing the cheaper RB20, but still 4 cyl = less pistons/rods/bearings etc if you need a rebuild Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/16463-rb20-conversion/#findComment-337818 Share on other sites
