the inside diameter of the stock runners is 39mm and average spacing of 95mm center to center, there not all the same apart from center to center, you cant see it from the drawing but there all measured within 1mm plus i am going to add some velocity stacks that will be able to attach to the exsisting flange.

Read complete thread and seen no mention of provision of clearance cut on bottom of bores to make sure top shoulder of rod does not hit on bottom of bore.

Not seen on image of bottom of block either so do you know if you have to do this?

It will become obvious on you first dummy fit and try to turn the crank slowly to see if you have the required clearance.

This is definitely done on the jap engines I have seen and it was mentioned in the Zoom 2.4 build up.

Good luck with it and hope it makes your target RWkW reliably! ;)

Hey guys,

Thanks for that, and yes was well aware of it but thanks for the heads up. When we did the dummy fit up, everything cleared fine 3 - 4mm clearence but we have ground some extra meat away just to be safe :(

Aighty, wellz we are having some problems finding the rings to suite the pistons, we didn't get them with rings with the pistons, and now that we have requested them they said can't do.. so we are stuck with pistons and no rings, this is the only thing stopping it all going to gether and being put in the car.

On another note a few people and pm'd asking for pics of the car its going into.

got any pics of the drivers side rear 1/4>>?? mine has some slight damage and was considering a kit like that, just wondering how is comes up to fuel filler. Also bit of noob with skyline features (silvia man) and was wondering. Are those 4 door taillights or did some 2 doors come with them? If they are 4 door lights.. how u fit them?? Just new rear bar n boot?

goodluck with ur engine biuld up.

cheers

Hey,

They are 2 door lights, as for the kit its a Final Konnexion genuine kit from Japan, through jetspeed. I will try get a pic of the drivers side rear for your tomorrow.

As for the rings,

Does anyone know the measurements of the rings etc? the pistons are made by ROSS

Cheers

You cut the intake runners how short? this thing is going to have even less down low than a stock RB20! We have spoken previously about plenums dude, I'll just remind you my mates' RB30DETT is making 460rwhp through a STANDARD RB25 plenum and throttle body.. good luck with the design and hopefully you don't lose too much torque or lean any cylinders out :(

Well put the car on the dyno last night to fiddle with the boost and AFR currently cars runnign a chipped mines ecu, and we wound the boost upto 1.15bar last night to test the timing and also to find a leak in the exhaust manifold, see the link below can you identify where the leak is lol

  • 4 weeks later...

Just a quick update.

Well Finally for ROSS pistons in the USA to organise my piston rings form Total Seal in Calafornia, They where posted monday, so hoping they will be here begining of next week.

Also i took the adivice of a few people and sold my Garrett 2876R setup, and today I received my new Garret GT30r, and also along with my new highmount manifold.

Just awaiting a few missing parts out of my oil & water line kit from GCG to arrive hopefully tomorrow and the turbo will be bolted upto the car

So far its coming along pretty smooth just a couple of hickups along the way but they where expected

Cheers

What are the specs on the GT30R, as i thought the GT30R was meant to have the ported compressor cover?

Looks great though...also, if you are going to run that shiny nice manifold long and hard you should consider some shielding/wrap/ceramic coating etc. There is a lot of wiring and hoses around there that dont like heat. Also, its expensive but if you are running ahigh mount manifold and turbo then its worth the effort to get stainless steel braided teflon line and throw some of the red heat sheathing around it. I tried a few different hose types and installs and after a few heavy track days the oil return line showed signs of fatigue and drama. So went the whole hog 3rd tim eround and countless track days and thrashings later never missed abeat. Whislt plenty of other ppl at the track with high mounts have suffered similar fate to my earlier attempts.

But looking good, keen to see the results :)

Yea i will be heat wrapping the dump pipe, and most likely the manifold, also the oil return i was going to wrap in something to keep it safe.

last thing i want is a fire lol

The oil return line i have says its flame resistant lol but yea i will look into getting a steel braided teflon one

On a good note, rings cleared customs last night, after sitting there for 2 days but of thought they where some sort of hardcore substance
