Raul,

What tyres did you use and what time did you do?

I used the R888 (SG compound) I bought from Taleb tyres. Not sure of the times but I was impressed with the tyres although they look to wear quickly. Did about 150km worth of driving on the track and I would say they have two to maybe three track days left in them.

As for lap times, I’m not sure as I had no timing equipment in the car. Paul maybe able to shed some light on this as he followed me for a few laps with timing equipment in his car.

Keen to hit the track again. May have to head to Wakefield with Circuit Club on 11/06/07. You keen?

Raul was doing well. very quick for what is a stock S15 just with sticky tyres and good pads. I would say somewhere in the mid 20s. but the aim of the day was just fun anyway.

I was pretty happy with the number of cars there until they stiffed us at the end of the day. pauls phone calls to the tower soon sorted that out. and we can all say we've raced against a V8 super car! I mean, there was only about 20 cars in total there at most.

I followed you twice, you pushed out a 1.27.6 the first time but when we got the checked flag the next time, you pulled off and I got kept going to the timing equipment and got a 1.26.2. Thats a good starting point. To put it info context. Ralph after 5 x OPGP track days in a STD S15 had a best time of 1.36. He drives like a pussy but you were 10 sec quicker!

Well done and good responsible driving, you did great!

That's because they are the parallel imported hill climb tyres that are a few years old already. See the Taleb thread for more details. I still think RE55's are the best value for money semi out there.

yeah Raul knows about the tyre sitch (old stock, extra soft compound). but they aint too bad value. I think he paid about $150 each, and providing you only are doing 4 or 5 laps at a time they will give stellar times as they are bullshit soft so would be grippy as hell. having said that, the 17inch ones the guy is selling are not such good value as at $240 each they are getting close the RE55 money.

Yep well done Raul, you picked up the lines quickly and once you get the hang of corner 2, you'll save

even more time. Very impressed at the speed of the 200 with only minimal mods. :)

Your making me blush Wayne :)

Seriously though, thanks to you guys for taking the time to show a noob the way.
