Unstable Idal - R32 Rb20

hey

i have a rb20 turboed r32 in the past my car has had problems with idaling beacuse of a vacume hose leak so if i put my foot down or just cruising and come to a set of trafic lights the car would drop revs and konk its self out and i have to restart the car ect just like when u stall it.

i fixed this problem with a new vacume hose but today i was driving to work and when i came into the carpark it died on me again just like when the vacume hose was split i checked the hose and it was fine after work i went to fill up petrol on the way i stoped at 2 traffic lights and i could smell a faint exhaust smell no cars were near me but i do have a bit of a bloked nose. but my car is still idaling wierdly it usualy idals at about 500-600 rpm it moves from 400rpm to 1500rpm and drops down fast and then counters itself back up to stop itself from dieing this happens usually when the car is cold but it is warm when this is happening.

so basicly what could be the cause of this?

problem: idals 400-1500rpm varies(not stable) and inside cabon exhaust like fumes.

Sounds exactly like a dodgy AFM.

is it common for a afm to break all the time?

since i have had the car i have had to replace it twice alrdy

Have a look in the tutorials section for cleaning of AAC or IAC, sounds like a 'hunting' issue. Or do a search for 'hunting' idle, common in R32's.
