Hey

I have a GTST series 2 R33 and i want to change the BOV because its not loud enough for my liking! but i dont wanna get defected either.... is there anything that i can change it to to make it louder? or am i stuck wid the standered one? What have you guys and girls done? anything that is a direct swap over of the standered one?

Cheers

We are in SA, so yes, it is illegal to have one Adz.

You need a retune if you disconnect your stock BOV apparently to reconfigure your idle.

The Atmo one will go where your stock one is with a flange that migth have come with your BOV if it was specific to our car. I am getting an adaptor made up for my Blitz SS BOV to go where the stock one is cause I want something a bit stronger and stainless in the stock ones place.

You will find if you block your stock one up (Thread in DIY section) then you will notice the car will stall when you approach lights, in parking areas, etc etc. So the only thing that fixed this is a AFC or a ECU apparently.

And yes, under normal driving if you do it without a retune, you will notice some fully sik woosh woosh action. lol. :)

Yeh, like he said, you will need a retune, it might not be too bad (the stalling) as with my bov blocked off it would stall maybe once a day. Best bet if u don't want a bov but you want sound is to go a mesh pod. Go a DRIFT pod or similar, just make sure the element is pretty thin and it will be loud enough

you underestimate the stalling my friend... it is possible to happen ANYTIME you stop, if you dont have ur foot over accelerator as you brake your f**ked, trust me lol.

It'll hunt for AFR like a c**t, go up and down the revs like crazy then if u dont balance it out with the accelerator ur stuffed, can happen anywhere, even while you are moving downhill, put it in to nuetral to double clutch cause ur synchros are screwed then the car stalls as you are rolling at 70km/h...

you need a retune if you remove the stock bov, and then the new bov u get needs to be tuned too...

ADAM, a vent to atmo BOV is one that VENTS TO ATMOSPHERE, ie, has a little trumpet or filter or whatever is aftermarket these days are pretty much all vent to atmosphere, thats the valve that creates the phshhhhhhht noise. k thnx bye lol.

I have just removed a turbo smart vee port BOV from my stock ecu'd r33. Stalling ??? not once in the severals weeks i had it on there....

The only thing i noticed having a atmo BOV on my r33 was a little bit of back fire upon gear shifts sometimes.. Did not sound bad at all.

And the little puff of black (barely noticable) when boosting @ 10 psi and gear change..

The reason I removed it is cause i wasn't a big fan of the noise.

I don't quite understand.. I don't doubt whether it would or not, but WHY would and aftermarket bov make you stall on idle?

Also, is there many aftermarket bov's that give better performance but don't make more noise?

the smoke and backfire is from putting too much fuel into the system... the car computer reads a lot of air rushing along (before BOV) and when you put the pedal down, adds fuel to the mix... if all that air is out in the atmosphere, it takes a second for the right amount of air to get to the block... if its recirculating, then there is a lot of air in there already, ready to go into the block...

runs your car too rich and it stalls... Im not certain, but i think cars that are having this problem should go get a tune...
