Ok, I'm thinking about putting some 34 GTR brembos onto my 32 GTR.

Now the stone guards are gone so that wont be a problem.

Question. I know the front callipers on a 34 use 14mm bolts. 32 GTR bolts are 12mm. I don't want to modify my hub if possible. i'm trying to remember, is the caliper lugs threaded or the hub or neither (nuts). If it's the hub, or uses nuts I want to get a small sleeve machined to be pressed into the caliper lugs (12mmID, 14mm OD). will this work ok? I think so.

next question:

what size bolts do the rear calipers use?

next question:

will I need to change my brake lines? If so, what do I change to? I think the fitting which meets the factory hard lines are different 32 to 34 so will I need custom lines? (32 at car side, 34 at caliper side).

last question:

34 master is 1 1/16 inches i think. what size is 32? and will it need changing? and if it does will a 34 master bolt up to my existing booster and hard lines?

all help much appreciated :D thanks.

Baron, NFI to most of that but I think you will find the V-spec 32 master cylinder & the 33 are the larger size. So maybe check out a V-spec 32 photo or two. You will get a longer pedal for the povvo pack 32 master cylinder with the Brembo calipers, but probably only 5-10%.

- i'm pretty sure the hubs are the ones that are threaded. cant help you with the lug issue sorry - cant see it being a problem, as long as it seats the calipers centre and firmly.

- not sure about 34 GTR -> 32 GTR, but I ran into a similar issue when i did my brake conversion and ended up getting custom braids done up. basically hybridized the fittings from the lines off both models. ADR approved as well. got it from this mob: http://www.mobileautohoses.com.au they are based in brisbane, but maybe they can recommend someone down your way?

thanks mate. if the hubs have the thread cut into them it will make my job easier as all I need then is the little press in sleeve for the caliper lugs to accept the M12 bolt. If it's the caliper I will just buy new high tensile bolts slightly longer and use nuts on the back. or maybe there is a heli-coil that will conver a 14mm thread to a 12mm... hmm I will be better placed after tonight when i have a good look at the stuff.

as for brake lines, I think my 32 GTR nismo lines will fit. from memory the connection at the caliper is the same, it's the car side which is different between 32 and 34. if that's the case I will (obviously) be fine.

I fitted R34 GTR Brembo’s to my R32 Gts-t and it's the caliper that has the thread not the hub, I just drilled out the hub-brake bracket to 14mm as there is heaps of meat left. I then just put on some R34 GTR 324mm rotors and it all lined up spot on and so did the R32 Gts-t brake lines.

So I think that the R34 GTR calipers will end up being to big for the 324mm rotors, as you Know R32 Gts-t are 280mm and R32 GTR ones are 297mm and so the bigger hub-brake bracket will make it 17mm to big for the 324mm rotor, so you might need to get some one to make up some 341mm rotors to make it work? Im not to sure but i hope this helps, Cheers

And if you are worried about drilling out the hub-brake bracket its only about .7 of a miller meter you drill out from around the out side of the hole as the original hole is 12.7mm - 1/2 inch, so its bugger all you drill out.

eish... my bad.

doesnt the caliper sit on the back of the hub? do the caliper designs vary? (wouldnt think so).

cant remember now :whistling: miish

that didnt make any sense to me... shouldnt the caliper itself offset for the larger rotor?

why is the hub-brake bracket too big?

Caliper sits between the hub and the back of the rotor and the bolt's run through the hub from the back and screw into the caliper.

regarding razor's comments, from what i've seen the hubs on all the s/r series nissans have the bolts centered at the same distance from the centre of the wheel, the difference in caliper offset is made up in the caliper legs (for lack of a better term).

BHDave is correct, the position of the mounting bolts is all the same. The length of the caliper legs allows for bigger rotors.

The only difference is in the R34 Brembos using 14mm bolts and to the best of my knowledge the only solution to fitting them to R32/33 is by boring out the hub holes.

The difference between 12mm & 14mm would not have enough "meat" to allow the use of a threaded sleeve

yeah, the thread is in the caliper lugs. and yep, the caliper lugs will mean that they will fit right on the rotor.

I had a thought. UAS sell brackets to offset a standard caliper to fit 324 rotors in place of the stock 296 ones. so a difference of 28mm. I could use 355mm rotors instead of the 324s (a difference of 31mm) and just get 3mm taken off the rotor. then I would not need to mod the hub (just enlarge the hole of the bracket on the drill press). then I'd have the bonus of unmodified hub and 352mm rotors.

I just didn't really want to mod my hubs, in case I want to go back to stock, or any other caliper that uses 12mm bolts.

I'm also going to see if there is a heli-coil that can turn an M14 threaded hole into a M12 threaded hole.

yes but then you need to get 2 piece rotors and that will be big coin...

or maybe if you're lucky an FPV or HSV one piece will fit (but probably won't!)

honestly you're almost better off drilling the hub and if you want to go back to stock calipers either re-tap the old calipers or get a couple of second hand hubs for $150...

and even then it's unlikely you'll ever go back!

Baron you considereing using the Factory callipers with adaptors to suit R33 GTR brembo rotors yes??

Im contemplaiting the same upgrade atm as my brakes I have ready to fit wont be fitting under the 17 inch rims I have.
