Hi all,

I work for a lubricant company and have come across an excellent synthetic motor oil (Prolube Syntegra Multi v 5W30) I am trying to get the best possible price from Prolube and was interested to see if anyone else would be interested in obtaining some if i get a good price. And before a Mod shuts this thread down I am not doing this for profit will pass on the oil at my cost price just trying to help out fellow skyline drivers. If anyone interested let me know and i will get prices. You can check out Prolube on the web, they are a local brisbane company.

Cheers

David

Hi mate,

Was using Fuchs but when we changed supplier at work to Prolube i got some of this syntegra to try and it seems great, i spoke to the sales rep before i got some and he explained to me that prolube only use class/grade 4 base oil and it is a fully synthetic oil so it sounds the goods and seems to perform well

Shane it is cheap because they are a small local company competing against the big boys.

Benno i am at Carole park.

For those on the northside you can go directly to prolube in brendale and quote the retail price i mentioned and ask for Les.

Bit quick to stop offering it...

I have not said anything against your offer or Prolube, merely that I will not use it, nor will my mechanic and I have kept it to PM. I understand that Prolube is an Aust and local company, so maybe let people know where it is made etc etc etc and a bit more background and really why your work is using it.

Don't blame the messenger.

mate it's better to hear people's personal experiences with a product like this, caus if we started using it, and people started seeing spun bearings, i'm sure you wouldnt like to have the finger pointed you.

your quick response to decline the offer to fellow skyline owners seems a little suspect.

not at all i withdrew the offer quickly because as always someone needs to question a legitimate offer i provided the name of the company and pricing if anyone was unsure they could of contacted prolube directly. I dont need to justify the use of the oil it is a personal choice i simply made an offer to save people some money but wont do it because of doubting thomases so feel free to contact prolube yourself their retail price is still excellent and talk to the reps about the quality and make up your own mind cheers

Just jumping in before it gets out of hand :P

black33gtst - please don't be deterred because you have met some resistance, there is clearly some interest in your offer. If people are interested in the product they'll verify its quality and, as you say, "make up their own mind" on whether or not to use it anyway.

Bobjones has just as much right to have a negative opinion of a product as you do to have a positive one, and he's done the right thing by the community by sharing an experience with a product others may be considering, and has abided by the rules in keeping negative details to PM.

    • Hey all, not sure how active SAU is anymore but will ask away anyways. Just wanted to get some experience on the 2008 model GTR CBA model.  I've hit that age in my life (43) where I'm like fk it time to get my dream (midlife crisis) car. Looking at importing one in and seeing if these can be reliable if the main flaws are fixed up. Plan is to keep money aside to do the following straight off the bat to future proof it: * install a stage 1 rebuilt trans with all new bits and pieces.  * install a new Bellhousing from the later model GTRs. Or potentially an upgraded stronger version like MAD or ATR. Besides the above two things and typical maintenance items anything else you'd recommend doing.   Been speaking to a few people and the engine on these are very reliable apparently. But keen on the view of the community here. Hoping to find a nice grade 4.5 with low mileage in Grey. I'd go black but swirls too easy. Look forward to your responses and feedback. Cheers

Ended up selling it and getting married having kids (yadda yadda) we all know how the story goes. Now I'm back with the intention to get my midlife crisis (dream) car ... a R35 GTR.  You'll see me about asking questions and searching the forums. Good to be back and can't wait to get back an Import again.
