OK ive been talking about this in a thread in the forced induction but it seems different states have different things that are legall etc... SO

Apart from the standered BOV can you legally change it to anything else? I was told Plumb back ones are legal that true?

Please clear this up for me, what is south australias stance on them...?

When I spoke to regency Vehicle standards they said you can't run an aftermarket bov regardless if its plumb back or not, he also said I couldn't modify the return pipe or modify the afm to turbo pipe.

BUT.. ring another day and I probably would have received a different response.

Looks like it.

For myself.. No bov, thin sheet metal plate blocking it off. All looks standard. 4" afm to turbo pipe.

Large afm to turbo pipe reduces the ever so slight drivability/stall issues you get with no bov.

You get better next gear boost response when not running a bov. :P

doesnt having no BOV ruin ur turbo?

No. Its a drivability/smoothness/emissions thing.

If your running a big turbo with lots of boost you may encounter your silicon joiners blowing off if you don't run tbolts & have the lip of the pipe flared. Silicon is slippery. :P

oh i thought some one told me no bov hurts the turbo or something... does it make a wooo wooo woooo sound without the bov?

Lol sorry bout the sound affects!

lol yes the bov manufactures tell you it hurts the turbo. lol

With the stock afm to turbo pipe the dose sound is fairly quietish but with a metal afm to turbo pipe it is quite a bit louder. :P

Have a read of.... Simon from Nispro.

Says who? The Marketers

I know of a VLT running 12psi thats been running no bov for 270,000km's still on its std origional turbo that even worse... is a journal bearing turbo.

It will be fine. Speak to Shaun if your worried.

whats all this bulls**t about no bov ruining your turbo lol??

that flutter noise is just air getting chopped up by the blades yeah?

cubes gives good advise, however it does cause stall/drivablity issues, so larger afm is a great idea. which i need to do soon myself!

Yeah the whole comp surge wrecking your turbo is a bit of a myth, no ones actually had any proof it does do any damage, and Adz with your BOV question apparently no BOV that can be adjusted is legal regardless of wether its atmo or plumb back.

run no bov u get flutter.

+ better boost response when selecting that next gear. :D

Flutter... also if you run a bov thats too tight.

Some bov's you have to tighten right up so they don't leak on higher boost levels.

need someone that sells/makes the aftermarket piping, does anyone know of a good place?

I got my stainless steel intake pipe from Shy180 - not sure if he's still a business trader on here though.

    • so finally had an event i was home for that didn't get rained off or otherwise cancelled to be able to actually drive the car, unfortunately was roll racing which isnt my favourite thing ever but had an awesome night with friends and testing the car out. obviously a huge difference in driving experience with the samsonas although still without flat foot upshifts the ratios are so much nicer and actually has boost into the next gear which was not something i always experienced with the stock gearbox. but of course absolutely loving the sound of the sidepipe and for its downfalls of ruining the car in ever other way it does sound awesome at the track.   had some weird issues where it would misfire in 2nd but fine in every other gear and at the end of the night at the end of the run would have no throttle until it decided it wanted to work, so will be looking into that before a proper track night coming up in just over a week to really see the changes in the car. • Useless lot aren't they? Releasing stuff on the market that doesn't do what it's supposed to do without you stuffing about with it and spacing out the spacer lol. FFS.
    • Similar experience with Ross pulley. Can't recommend.
    • Hey guys I’m putting my 180sx wiring loom back into my car and I’ve run the interior harness out I’ve noticed that on the passengers a pillar there seems to be a section of holes where zip ties would go as if to run a thin 4 wire harness to the roof I’ve searched through all of my stuff to try and find this harness but I can’t seem to find anything. I’m just wondering what the passengers side a pillar( on the windscreen) harness/wiring is actually for as I have already wired up my interior lights cheers
