The only place ive seen that has an aftermarket metal intake pipe (metal is meant to make the flutter echo and sound better) is on the nengun website Apexi have a full intake kit for the r33gtst and possibly 32 but im not to sure.

Only prob is its like $300 but it does include everything you need and the pod filter too

I paid half that for just the pipe w/ clamps & quality silicone hoses - best I've seen (5ply). :P

For a similar custom pipe alone have been quoted the $200mark in the past.

While on the bov question. My car I just bought has 2 bov's in place :P as seen below:

I want to remove the aftermarket one, so I bought a new stock cooler return pipe (black pipe). I was going to replace it today, but then noticed that the vaccum line has be re-routed to the aftermarket bov, and the stock bov has the pipe where the vaccum attached removed/blocked with a screw!!

SO, can I replace the cooler pipe to remove the aftermarket BOV and just block the hose from the manifold?

How does it affect the operation of the factory BOV if it doesn't have a vaccum/boost reference?

If you dont block this hose, does this not cause a boost/manifold leak?

Cheers for the help

You would want to use the stock bov if you dont have an aftermarket ecu of some sort because the stock ecu has been programmed to run with a plumb back bov so not having one will make your car run richer at certain times (ie gear changes) just run the vac source back to the stockie bov

and yes if you didnt block the boost/vac source it would cause a leek

Sambo33, it sounds so much better with the plate there :santa:. I'm going to get the intake pipe this week hopefully, otherwise might just pm shy180, how much did people on here pay for just that pipe usually?

yeah i blocked it off this morning, lots of chatter now! haha. i took it for a quick drive and everything works fine, no stalling ect. i couldnt really open up the throttle too much (being in the city and all) but i think it feels a bit more responsive than before.

i cant remember what i paid for the intake pipe, ill try and find out.

  • 1 month later...

instead of puting the plate inbetween the bov and intercooler piping.. isnt it easier just to disconnect the vacuum hose from the bov and plug it up... that way the bov never opens??

my mate done it on his... he loves flutter...

i prefer the stock clean wooossshhh

    • I think throwing the hydraulic power steering system into the trash and converting to electric power steering, e.g. Astra PS pump would solve many issues.
    • so finally had an event i was home for that didn't get rained off or otherwise cancelled to be able to actually drive the car, unfortunately was roll racing which isnt my favourite thing ever but had an awesome night with friends and testing the car out. obviously a huge difference in driving experience with the samsonas although still without flat foot upshifts the ratios are so much nicer and actually has boost into the next gear which was not something i always experienced with the stock gearbox. but of course absolutely loving the sound of the sidepipe and for its downfalls of ruining the car in ever other way it does sound awesome at the track.   had some weird issues where it would misfire in 2nd but fine in every other gear and at the end of the night at the end of the run would have no throttle until it decided it wanted to work, so will be looking into that before a proper track night coming up in just over a week to really see the changes in the car. • Useless lot aren't they? Releasing stuff on the market that doesn't do what it's supposed to do without you stuffing about with it and spacing out the spacer lol. FFS.
