Youd have to take the timing belt cover off and even then you can't be sure, sometimes the top of the belt looks ok but there could be cracks on the underneath side. If you know the cars history and trust it then maybe you might not bother replacing it, providing it's been replaced.

Otherwise it is a bit of a risk. These are interference engines so if it snaps you're in the poo.

I had my timing belt and waterpump replaced yesterday.. There is a little silver sticker on the plastic black timing belt cover normally, the put a yellow one over that saying kms ect.. The belt had already been replaced in the past i just did it for peace of mind.

Take it to a mechanic and have it done just in case if you dont know. I could save you alot of money in the future.
