What Gearbox In My Gts4?

hey guys,

the syncros in my 92 R32 GTS4 gearbox were on the way out (crunching 3 and 4), so my mechanic took it out to fix it, he was trying to get parts for it, the guys from nissan say that my car used to be an auto, and was prob converted in japan. So now they got no idea which box is in it. Its a 4WD box, so could be GTR or GTS4, who knows what year. They said there could be 5 different types of boxes?? (i didnt know there were 5 types of 4WD boxes)

Is any defining features from each box so that you can tell the difference between them?

get a gtr one. better synchros ( pre 94 push type)

gtr box will fit straight in?

I heard that the GTS4 box is a bit smaller?

boxes are the same externally, only diff is the ratios etc. get the ratios from the workshop manual and put gearbox into one of the gears and turn the input shaft and count the rotations at the rear end, you should be able to easily tell the difference from a GTR to GTS4 manual as there is a bit of diff in the ratios from memory.
