gear box rebuild

Hi guys

Just wondering..

my gear box isnt 100% at the momnet

still preetty good damn good...but it looks like 4th gear at high speeds is playing up when changing into it and 2nd gear as well

im thinking syncros playing up or wearing out

any body know any good places or even better how much aprox it would cost to get a gear box rebuilt and strengthen???

Dont know a credible place, or how much. But i suspect like many things jap it might be cheaper to throw away and try your luck with another 2nd hand one.

Let us know if you have any luck, it would be worth knowing $$ and ease at which they can be rebuilt.

I had my gearbox rebuilt under warranty a few months back. Cost $1900 all up including 2 new synchros in 2nd and 3rd. These synchros are dual synchros. I had new bearings installed as well.

Try some Red Line gearbox oil, its about $100 for 5 litres which apparently helps worn synchros a lot.

The problem your experiencing is very common amongst skylines.

I totally agree with 2fardown on the redline oil. It has worked on my mates GTR, when he was having gearbox problems, and it's a relatively cheap fix.

hmm ok

so does warranty cover stuffed gear box's

cause i stil have warranty..

but il look into the reline
