Also I used united fuel Boost98..

Im stll shocked it made this power I wasnt expecting any more then 200rwkw..Im happy.

See yous at the SAU dyno day nsw's peoples..

Cheers

I GOT RESULTS BACK - I am suprised with the results and Matt done a great job....

234.9RWKW@11/12psi.( I dont know why it ran the higher psi as it has an rb20 acuator on it.

Only issue I had was with the spark plugs, it was blowing out the spark at this boost level, there copper and were gapped to 1.1 now Matt regapped them to 0.65.

He didnt mention anything about fuel, afm or anything and they were working quite well at this boost level..

I am curious to see what it will do when i finish what I want to do with it, just a few more minor mods.

AFR's were good to between 11.8 t 12.0.

Well done

i like more auto's having a crack.

good effort on safc etc but that turbo is certainly a pig.

The Auto Hack Paul was talking about isnt realy a hack or anything technical.

simply un plug the brown connector down behind the drivers side head light and it will lock the trans in 3rd gear.

once your finished on the dyno plug it back in and away you go. 1st , 2nd , 3rd..

i notice your dyno was done in drive so it might explain the massive loss in midrange, as he would have to go very easy on the throttle so it dosent kick back to second. thats of course assuming he dosent know about the brown plug.

attached is my old turbo and my current turbo

both running rb25det auto

if you compare midrange power at say 100kmph your not even close.

but both runs on my car are with a PFC but i still think your turbo may be dragging its feet a little..

cheers

Darren

Dangerman,

Yeh he was taking it easy until he would reach a certain klm so it would not kick back, it was constantly kicking back on the dyno...

THe turbo is good for what it is though..i know its no gt30 but I wouldnt call it a pig...on the street im pretty sure im gettn 11/12psi by 3000rpm..

it is annoying though as first gear is wheel spin time.....

I would like to get it run again to see its proper power band...i say ill do it at the SAU dyno day, take that brown plug out..

Midrange does suffer a little on the dyno graph but I dont think its reflects this when drivin in real life conditions on the road..

I would get a PFC if I had the money, but as you can see per the mods I havnt spent much at all..a budget build you could say..

Im still wrapped with the power...

Cheers

Does any1 rekon the boost 98 from united helped me along at all...

Im quite interested in fuels and their advantages and thats the reason why I choose the boost98 as it has sumting like 5% ethanol in it...Ive read quite a few articles claiming its miracles, the ethonal that is and how it has to be tuned to it...

Before I got it tuned i used bp 98 and boost 98..untuned the bp98 felt way better, the ethonal decreased power.

I wanted to use shell v-power racing but I cant even find it in sydney yet...

Let me know your thoughts...im still wondering why the power was so high..the dyno is a pretty average reading dyno(DD) aswell.

Cheers

Looks like a BOOSTD style Hiflow, low boost and cliff like power curve. VG30 rear housing and a highflow front wheel on the stock RB25 turbo.

REV210, what are the specs or how do these BOOSTD turbos rate? all I know is that the previous owner said it is rated at 450hp?

Also with the power curve I dont think it represnts it well as the tuner had to bring it on slowly to avoid it kicking back a gear..I will do the mod where it locks in 3rd gear on the SAU dyno day and then see how it goes...

Also you know the goods on fuels, what is your view on BOOST98 from united petrol..did the ethanol help?

Cheers

    • Damn it, I was at work last night, and stayed in a room there during the storm with the car outside, but undercover, I just went downstairs and well....there was a large steel locker that has come from some place last night, it wasn't anywhere I could see yesterday, and yeap, it landed on the fraking car....of course it did..... LOL So, I'll need to take it back for paint and panel, luckily it was only the boot that took the hit, so it could have been worse Serves me right for staying at work and getting on the cans with some of the boys
    • Yeah, really happy with how it all turned out As for aftermarket lip, nah, I'm not really a fan for practically reasons on a street car that gets driven everywhere  I did have the full lower kit on my 2015 STI, but found the front lip scrapped alot, even at stock 4x4ish ride height As the NC sits now, with the lowest point of the car at 110mm, so just legal, some steep driveways and steep speed humps will still "just" scrap those little plastic OEM air dam thingies on the undertray just before the front wheels
    • Here's one I help build and tuned a decade ago, Garrett  GTX3071R Gen 1, T3 twin scroll 0.83 rear housing. Went from larger 272 cams down to smaller Tomei Poncams to help with the low end. S13 non VCT motor. Car was purpose built for the track, hence low down was the focus. Note the actual dyno chart shows lower boost, however the EBC and boost gauge showed 1.9Bar (Ignore the torque, I was young and didn't know how to set derived torque)
    • I’m doing some side developments on SR20det S13 engines, its one my hobby cars used it to compare flow capacity of some smaller size wheels. SR20det is one of another JDM legendary engines I'm sure there are plenty of SR enthusiasts on this forum, I will share results some common turbo configurations here. a quick run down of what the car is: Wide body 180sx Type X with black top engine (blue). It has: Stock bottom end Haltech 1500 ECU 5-0 motorsports trigger kit Kelford SR20DET Beehive Spring with Titanium Retainers Kelford Cams SR20DET S13 188-B 268/272 Cams G25-660 Turbocharger in T2 .64 rear housing internally gated ARP Head studs MLS head gasket 1000CC ID injectors Walbro 450L Fuel pump Front mount cooler kit JJR’s 3 inches turbo back exhaust (its too short for the 180sx it had to be extended) Pump 98 fuel Hub Dyno tune So far made 270rwkws at 22psi full boost by 4500RPM. Engine is very knock limited hence a pretty bad looking top end. From previous experiences it seems like SR20dets are happier with bigger size turbine, some thing like a GT30 would make way better top end, but on same time response is lost. It won't be a problem with S15 VCT engines. I'll be testing alternative turbine housing, turbine wheel and possibly dump pipe options for extra flow to resolve the problem and of course E85 would resolve all the issues.
    • Awesome writeup and details. Thanks for sharing the story so far. I can relate to parts of it with my previous car and some of the issues I had to deal with.
