It is an issue with your insurer - simply they are not doing a good enough job.

Write a letter and say that you need the car for work, etc, and that it is not good enough that they are not managing the repair for you - you are doing it yourself. Demand a hire car until it gets fixed. Put it in writing so that you can have record of it should you need to go to arbitration etc

Threaten to tow the vehicle at their expense to another repairer of your choice if it is not rectified promptly - on the basis that you have no faith in the JustCar recommended repairers.

Threaten to invoke the ombudsman to examine the claim and the repairer.

I'm sorry to say this (as I know that lots of people are insured with JCI) but *some* of their 'authorised repairers' (that i've had dealings with) are so shifty that the redefine the meaning- second hand parts, reco'd parts, rubbish repairs with crap paint.

You get what you pay for, and JCI have done their risk analysis to insure high risks - and as a result pay out as little as they can to make the most margins.

Unfortunately I really need that car back tho cos my daily driver is fairly f!*ked and very unsafe to drive. Its starting to cost me quite a bit of money keeping it going. I rather have the liner back so that i can fall back on this when my daily driver decides to shit itself.

When something breaks on my daily driver it puts lots of pressure on me to fix it before i have to go to work again or I would be walking to work. So anything I decide to do on the car will have to be completed in a short time and it has to work or I am screwed.

I think that the guy having my car for more than 3 months now is not really pushing him. He has just been doing it in his spare time it seems. I figure he been f!*king me round for months now, I think its time for me to play the game.

I will be complaining too if the job is not up to standard. I intend on getting right in there and inspecting everything on my car before they give it back to me. I been going in every week to see exactly how he is doing things and to see that there is no dodgy bog up jobs.

I just hope my car still runs well after sitting round doing f all for the last few months.

The repairer was attually the one that I choose. Starting to think that this was the wrong way to go. But I went to one of JCI recommened repairers and they seemed far dodgyer than the guy I got now. My car has scrates down the side but not too deep and the JCI recommended repairer was just going to polish them out. I was like WTF it needs to be repainted dik head.

The guy I have now is meant to be good but his reputation is that he is slow to get the job done. I didnt realize that he is slow because he is just lazy and doesn't prioritize his work. My car went into the shop ages ago and when the panel beater gets new jobs in, he just starts working on them straight away which is BS. All these new jobs seem to que jump infront of mine. He seems to take on heaps of cash jobs.

poor bloke... theres nothing worse then people milking it... the thing is that you get your insurance company to get them to pull a finger out, and then when the job is done get them to warranty it and give you some sort of a guarantee against cracking or whatever the concern might be and if your not happy with it then just tell the insurance company and let them pay/ deal with the problem...

it happened to a friend of mine when he had an accident, they milked it for ages then when it was finished he had overspray everywhere, on the tires, the inner guard liners they totally f**ked it... so he demanded them to do it again so f**k em dude get em to hurry the hell up

Well its been nearly 4 months now. This has become such a big pain in the ass. I can't seem to get any results out of anyone at the moment. Panel beater is still taking his sweet ass time. Insurance keep hastling him and he still does not do anything.

Just today it looks to be turning to shit. Insurance have called me and said that the car should be comleted from an insurance point of view by this wednesday. I was like WTF.

When my car was in the accident one of the rear pods was smashed. I decided to use a different style after market rear pods as it was going to be cheaper than the factory replacement one and would look better.

Also the panel beater said that he can add some pearl to my paint when he repaints the car.

NOW the panel beater is telling the insurance company that the car is basically finished from an insurance point of view and only the personal stuff that i wanted is left to be done. So now insurance are going to try and wash their hands off all this and I will have to chase up the panel beater about the after market mods.

This is BS I think. The panel beater had to purchase a new rear pod any way that was going to cost more than the after market ones any way. Also had to paint the car anyway i just took him up on the ofer to add the pearl into the paint.

If insurance wash there hands now i will have to fight it out with the panel beater and will prob not get my car back for ages.

WTF do I do. This is turning into a big nightmare!!!!

woww that seems like a really sticky situation.. i really feel ur pain.

Tell ur panel beater to go for the colour it already was with no pearl etc..

then explain to the insurance company insurance side of the work is NOT done and explain the situation

with the pods if thats a good idea?

Yeah I am egerly awaiting tomorrow to hear back from the insurance company when they call to check up on him again. This panel beater guy is friggin unreal. You would think that you would hurry up with a job so that you get paid sooner. Maybe this guy doesn't like money or something.

Well I kinda want the pearl in the paint now but I dont see how its such a big deal when it's really just adding it to the paint.

With the rear pods I asked the panel beater if it was possible to change them to a after market design and he said yeah sure no worries. I then provided him pictures of the pods i wanted and prices and shop details etc. Turned out that his supplier of parts had the same ones so he could get them from his guys. I requested the different design pods more than a month ago. He tells insurance that he is still waiting on getting these pods and thats why the job has been delayed.

But there is lots of other stuff to do on the car still before it will be ready to paint eg sanding, disasemble body kits etc. But this guy just sits on his hands till the parts rock up.

I am starting to get really annoyed about it all now.

I told them to send out a dude to check on the job cos this tosser panel beater just emits crap and JCI then lap that up. But they never do send anyone. Will see what outcome I get tomorrow.

    • I have done smoke test and can’t see any leak on high or low side.   checked pump and fluid can flow through. Removed the high pressure from steering and did smoke test and same on low side, no leak.   puzzled. Thinking why if it was all ok it suddenly went as car was off road for a year. Don’t want to disassemble pump yet as i can see fluid / air( compressor) can flow through with no issues
    • Which manifold mate? Meanwhile......Mark is wondering how bonnet vents would look on the NC 🤣
    • Actually,  just remembered there should be info in the threads (somewhere) about swapping to a manual steering rack and deleting power steering all together.
    • Also had a look at the Nissan JP website looks like the 400r has a slightly shorter ratio than than the regular V37 3.133 VS 2.937 which from a guy who has driven both 3.69 vs 4.11 ratios in the S15 is bugger all. Seems that the AUTO Z runs the same ratio as the 400R but can't find any info as to if its an open or LSD? More often than not the auto LSD is open
    • Do not replace the power steering lines with this stuff. If it's anything like the Chase Bays stuff it will leak and be worse than stock. The reason why the reservoir is on the LH/passenger side of the car is because that's just where the reservoir was most convenient to fit. Don't overthink this stuff. The intake/cold side of the engine is pretty busy on these cars. And again, the hardpipe is designed to be a janky power steering cooler. In theory you can replace it with a real power steering cooler but that's really only for track use where boiling the fluid is a distinct possibility. Start with the low pressure lines feeding the pump from the reservoir. Make sure there isn't a bunch of junk in the reservoir filter. Be careful to not get ATF all over the engine bay. I hate dealing with ATF spills, you can clean it up and the slightest crevice will still release more oil that can still drip over time. You also want to inspect for leaks before you make a mess and can't tell what happened. Most likely you have a leak somewhere that is allowing fluid out and air in. Failing that it's allowing air in but not fluid out. Only place I can really see that happening is on the low pressure side because the pump will pull a slight vacuum to draw fluid in. Everything after the pump is high pressure or lower pressure, approaching atmospheric by the time it returns to the reservoir.
