Hi all,

I am thinking changing my stock fuel regulator as it is "stuff". Been finding a 2nd hand stock one for sometime and no luck. Sick and tire of that, decided to buy a new one. Done some search and I am freaked out about the diffenent types. Rising rate 1:1, 1:7.......blah .......blah. The Nismo one seems all right but there is no specs on them. Not sure its a rising rate type but it seems to be easy in installation and quite cheap.

Anyway, before I buy any of that, I would like to know more about the difference between the stock and after market fuel regulator. Any help will be appreciated. Cheers!

Hey there,

A rising rate fuel reg ads more fuel pressure per pound of boost, i.e 1:1 adds 1psi of fuel pressure in the rail per psi of boost.

Say you have 45psi fuel rail pressure as a base setting, at 15psi boost the rising rate reg adds another 15psi of pressure to the fuel rail so you have 60psi in the rail.......this allows more fuel to be injected per injector pulse and therefore run less risk of leaning out.

As a side note i hear they can be a bastard to tune with as the motor keeps getting more and more fuel and can run rich,

i'm not sure on that as i'm not a tuner.

Regards Andrew :(

Why would you search for a second hand (standard) fuel reg, but be prepared to buy a new afterrmarket one?

That doesnt make a lot of sense.

Ring Nissan, and use the stock reg. There is nothing wrong with it. I ran over 350rwkw on the stock one

second that. I have no issue with the stock one up to 270/280.

The stock reg is 1:1 so is nismo, sard, and SX. The stock reg has a steel diaphram unlike any aftermarket reg that I know of so it should be the most stable. And yes tuning for 1.7:1 or 6:1 or 12:1 rising rate regs is shit. If you like the fancy shit and want a to put a nismo or sard sticker on your car then I would recommend these two otherwise use the stock item.
