forgive the newbie question but i think this is valid,

what way are you guys running your front mounts? what's a cost effective fmic?

basically, if i have to go custom piping then i will go custom, but if a kit is available then i'll go kit, i just don't want too many ugly weld joins and bits of pipe hanging out, i have a very neat well looked after cefiro and i would like to keep it's image up =)

any suggestions would be appreciated, thanks!

Not sure what your running dude, but I've got an R34 stocko sidemount, and it bolts up. Like actually bolts up unlike in an R32 where you have to change stuff. I found it helped heaps. Just another option. Definately cheaper.

well don't tell anyone but i'm not actually a turbo, it's been a daily driver, i treat my car like the yanks treat their lowriders like i'm obsessive compulsive about how i keep my paint and my interior clean,

every 3 weeks or so i use a make-up foundation brush to clean my airvents etc, and i fill up my windscreen wiper tank with pure evian...

that's just the way i treat my car now,

so basically next week i'm going turbo i have everything EXCEPT an intercooler of any sort, daveo does the R34 sidemount give any advantage over the stock cefiro part? power wise or reliability?

Well seat of the pants its def got more power. I had it out at a track day 2 weeks ago and it held up fine, and I wasnt babying the car. They are 63% or something bigger than an R33 one, which is bigger than an R32 cooler. If you are just going for a standard turbo or even a highflow its probably the way to go. At least to keep costs down. All you would need to get is the cooler, and standard ceffy cooler pipes.

i took this from the substitute parts list.

Any FMIC cooler will fit with enough cutting and shutting of the front bar... if talking about piping, the R32 piping needs to be cut slightly. EG: Pipe which goes across the front of the engine and then joined with a silicon pipe for example. R34 gtt stock sidemount intercooler is pretty much a straight swap into a ceffy. You use the ceffy bracket and cut of the piece for the snorkel off with a hacksaw. You also need to cut a section of of the splash guard cause it sits lower than the stock one.

The ceffy sidemount set up is very similar to the r33 and r34 not r32 (Resin)

considering that i have next to no cooler piping from the cefiro, BUT i do have R34 cooler +piping now, what needs to be done?

r32 kit of anything will work (well should)

i'm running a GKTECK 32 kit on mine, good for 240rwkw

exactly what i was gonna say...

Ebay has $300 full kits there not bad... oh wait australia.... well in the states they do...

Im running a GKtech R32 Intercooler Kit.

It has served me fine and has NEVER caused any issues. Works extremely well.

Greg who owns GK is a good mate of mine and I know literally hundreds of people that have been using hes intercoolers without any troubles.

i'm going the R34 sidemount for the minute,

i'm keeping everything stock for now cos i'm performing an RB20de+T conversion,

so rather than go straight all out aftermarket stuff and say, having something along the line cock up on me and all parts are a/m then i will have a hard time trying to pinpoint where i went wrong,

at least this way, when i build it up if something goes awry in my setup then i will be able to work it out from there

....now my big problem is trying to find some damn stock piping.

sorri peep's didnt quite get all of dave's comment , does da r34 side mount bolt onto da r32/a31 rb20det stock cooler piping?

R34 sidemount bolts up pretty much directly to an A31, just might need to chop out a bit of the front bar to get it to fit.

R34 sidemount to fit an R32 needs either in inlet or outlet side of the cooler to be changed.

So it IS a direct bolt up to a A31, but is NOT a direct bolt up to an R32.

yeah it does seem to be direct bolt up, thicker cooler core and better angle / positioning,

i love it thus far! turbo conversion is going along swimmingly for the most part

i actually got the cooler from an S15, would that be any different? cos the S15 seems *eerily* adaptable to the cefiro piping.

any of you fmic guys have stock piping kicking around?

this is a serious question cos i can't find it anywhere cos everyone keeps throwing it in the bin.

if you guys wanna box it up i'll slip you a tenner for the favour and pay all postage costs.

cheers
