Hi folks

i noticed currently there are 42 entries for compak attak at present for an event that is 11 days away.

ive started this thread in the hope of motivating a few skylines owners.

it was great to see at the last andra event berzerkley bringing 5 or 6 customer cars to compete in SRWD, i hope most of you guys can attend this meeting.

i understand some people feel a loyalty to ANDRA but i think peole need to think outside that. currently any event held in queensland is successful, SRWD in queensland never had less then 55 entries. its a shame in NSW we sturggle to get a 16 car field.

any one who has an interest in sport compact racing needs to show some support and put a car on the track. if you occassinally race at a wednesday night meeting heres your chance to get introduced to real competition racing. cost is between $80 and $160 depending on whether you have an andra license or not. if you win you get $450, so theres a chance to make profit. you could also end up with a photo in zoom, HPI, fast fours, hot fours magazines. you could end up on one of the DVD's we buy from time to time. you get to meet like minded people and have fun with your buddies.

i know some people are scared of racing a faster car, i can tell you being a faster car is more scary as we have to give slower cars almost a half track head start and try and run you down, its harder to be consistant and ultimately win in a faster car than a slower car. a slower car you can just focus on the tree, have your sound sytem going air conditioner going and just cruise through for the same time all day and get to the finals. another good thing you will come away from this is racing experience, you can always learn of other competitors, and hell if adrian (2RISMO) hodgeson can win a championship any one can.

so come pone boiys and girls, come have a go, show some support for sport compact drag racing, at this stage it looks like ANDRA and SCG will merge next year and forge ahead together, but if WSID doesnt see its worht there while, we will all be travelling to willowbanl QLD to ave a chance to race, or go and race SS/BB and run 6 sec cars.

hope too see some skylines or anything with 4 wheels added to the competitor list and racing.

The promoter needs to assure more qualifying runs...to pay for entry and only have two maybe three runs all day is a bit discouraging to new racers. You pay half the money to have more than double the runs on Wednesday nights. On Wed. you get to race under lights too (i prefer to race at night as well)

The way the classes are structured and the DYO format puts people off too.

My trip to NZ has shown me how wrong we have got it over here with Sport Compact. They have huge fields and heads up racing in a 1 sec. bracket classes. 9.90-10.90 etc. does not matter what your car is...if it runs 10's you race 10 sec cars i.e. 10sec FWD civic racing 10sec AWD GTR. This makes for close flat out racing all day which also is a great spectacle as far as spectators go (the last event had crew only in stands), and i didn't see anyone backing off jumping on brakes etc.

Your own class showed how stupid the current system is... top quailfier was around 9 flat, second qualifier was around 10 flat, the next car was 11 flat, thats first three qualifiers over 2 seconds apart, name any racing class in the world where such a farcical situation would arise...its laughable.

Ive discussed running a one off NZ style event, outside the series next year to see what the racer and spectator feed back is.

If Ray Box is not interested in running it im sure Parkside Media (NZ) is!

BTW we will be racing. just won't be entering till the weekend

I'm probably going to enter (haven't got my act together yet though). Don't expect to win anything, just going for a bit of fun and support the sport :action-smiley-069:

Not sure why we need another thread on this though - I think I bet you to it (SEE HERE)

some fair points there

though, wsid doesnt prep the track for wednesdays so dont expect to run a PB if your making a reasonable amount of power on a wednesday meeting. majority of the time you get 3 qualifiers definate, possibel more if there is time left as per minijam and the last couple of events, even jamboree last year we got 5 runs the first day.

you are assured a elimination run, so thats 4 runs definate. if you can race you'll end up racing in the finals which usually take place at night time. at the andra meeting yes there were 2 seconds between 1st and 3rd qualifier, thats why its handicap racing it doesnt matter. some people are always going to have bigger budgets so handicap racin is a must, alternatively if you GTR boys are happy to run RWD mode only i'll go heads up. but hey its S/RWD, you get your own AWD class with SCG championship.

minijam showed plenty of good racing in S/RWD and S/AWD with me having to give 4 sec head starts to competitors and run them down on the line, that was good viewing from reports of people in the stands. there is starting to be some pro stock burn downs in these classes now and stagging games, so race craft is starting to happen. the only way to learn race craft is to actually race.

the more people that attend the more opportunity there is to try these things paul but if it doesnt show to draw a crowd or competitors as it is, no ideas will get off the ground.

i think the kiwi's have good events because people will get off there butts and race, they arent worried about stuffing up in front of mates, they arent worried if cars arent as fast as they'd like, they just want to race and have fun. i think thye understand cars on tracks equals bums on seats equals sponsors pull out the cheque book and they can enhance there car further with the assistance of sponsors.

anywho, i'll be glad to see twoogle at the track again, lawsie is running his GTR as well so it looks like there will be a good GTR showing in AWD. its a shame Mark is racing in sport mod and not going at it with theo, that would be interesting viewing.

I thought that was a club event.... In fact, I KNOW it is a club event. Relax

Shane, you're a cheeky man. And if you need the correct spelling of my surname, I'll be happy to show you my trophies

LOL!

I'm actually considering entering SFWD

Did i hear you mention trophy's before?
