My mate has a R34 gt-t with the RB25 neo engine, Just wana know when the vvt is on, and when its off. Some people say its on just after idle and switches off at 4500-4700. Then i have heard it doesnt swtich on till 5000, and goes til redline.

Anyone confirm?

Cheers

May be of some help... I believe the table below is from Tomei.

My understanding as you probably know is that it switches on (increase overlap) just off idle and stays on until for the R34 GTT until 5400rpm, when its off there is next to no overlap which helps prevent reversion at high rpm due to the factory turbo setup.

i knew it as

kick on 1800rpm

kick off 4700rpm

I've heard the solanoid click just off idle on one r33 but it was running a microtech so chances are things were fiddled with.

Never been under the bonnet and listened for it on an R34.

Tomei listing 4500rpm.. That may be what the stock ecu runs? PFC i'm sure has that value at 4700rpm.
