JVP I am going to ring them today and see how much it would for the s1 to insure as Its so much cheaper and I have more cash left to buy things I want for the car IM getting very excited about it hehe.. and also Im going to ring justcars.. :sorcerer:

Josh, by the way you have a great name :) you are right, Im leaning more for the S1 I want a lovely exhaust system, a lovely stereo system, alarm, and lots of other stuff to go with it and the s1 I can do all that too where as the S2 i wouldnt be able to get things I want done with it.. .. Im really seeing what you and my partner are saying.. I have to have a looksie at the MVautomatic shifts hehehe.

Also Josh you mentioned earlier somewhere in this thread of recommendations of what should be done first etc which is here

Full Exhaust, Intercooler, Air Filter, Boost Controller, SAFC and (if you can bloody find one) an SITC so you can tune your air/fuel mixtures and timming for better fuel economy and power (believe me and everyone else here this should be AT THE TOP OF THE LIST), and set of wheels (nothing too expensive), alarm

I am liking what I am reading there and which is more so why im leading to a Series 1 :sorcerer: as I could do that

Stasis Thanks..

Again would you buy from a dealer or a private seller? or would you go through someone to get a stagea for you?

I cant wait really cant wait to get the stagea..

i would go private, i dont trust dealers. and i work for a dealership lol

when u buy private, you can bargain them down, and you can generally see how they have looked after a car. at a dealership, they leave cars running, so when u goto to test drive, they are all good with start up issues etc coz they have been warmed up. this is used cars btw.

my 2 cents.

i Cant drive a Manual.. I just like the tiptronic thingy.

Besides I wanna do my own mods hehehehe

newbie101 its all yours hope you win lotto

to understand how a motor works shell i'd advise you to learn how to drive a manual

ps friendly advice again

shit i hope i'm not preaching?

Hehehe leetom, I am a female and I have tried to drive a manual, I can change gears etc I just dont have the concentration to go with it iykwim, much easier for me to drive an auto as that is what Im comfortable with driving. Last time I drove a manual which was last year or the year before I rolled back and couldnt get going again and the car behind me ran in to me since then I dont wanna drive one.. hehehe although Im sure that my partner would agree with you .. ... But since its going to be my car I better stick with what I drive..

at the moment i drive a Ford fairmont ghia Au 99 that happens to be auto.. but im actully so excited getting this stagea as Ive never had any cars other than ford..

I do know that driving a manual is *probually* more fun and better on fuel am I right? and so I just dont have it in me to drive a manual :(

i only mention manual experience for the reason your thinking of buying and modifying a performance orientated machine, understanding power characteristics, engine braking etc certainly helps appreciate a performance vehicle, but preaching aside shell the stagea is one of the smoothest easiest cars that i have ever driven and i'm sure you'll come to grips with it be a manual or auto and luuuv it like the rest of us.

dpmt forget the older version of the tiptronic is not very good. You have to take in consideration between the S1 and 2 in the fuel consumption differences which will save you $$ in the long run. Unless you fill it up with boost 98.

Have you taken a look at Jspec website? if not take a look at it and see the specs, proces and post it up and will disscuss further hows that?

Stasis Jspec website? I think Ill let Mike look into that as he undestands more when it comes to that side of things thanks

is jspec.com.au or without the Au?

Have fun looking at it and dont stay up too late looking at it LOL!!!

There is no doubt that series 2's are better on fuel straight out of the box than a series 1 but as soon as you start modifying that mostly goes out the window until you get something like a safc or the jaycar gear etc. to tune the car. When I first got my series 1 I was lucky to get much over 300kms on a full tank driving normally in traffic and around town. And not really much more on the highway. But when the safc was put in a basic street tune was done which helped. Could get around 400kms if I took it easy and got a best of 460kms on the highway but since it got tuned a couple of weeks ago its gotten better again. However they didn't really pay too much attention to low throttle so I'm going to get a wide band sensor and start getting stuck into the low throttle off boost settings. I believe SK can get about 500 or so when towing a car on the highway and its a series 1. And as for manual vs auto. A descent setup auto can be more fun than most people give credit for. Just take look at some of the dyno sheets on here with before and after AFR readings. And you'll see how much room for improvement there is. But at the end of the day a stagea is more than frumpy in the weight department with a slipery auto to boot so its never going to be a real fuel miser but there is a lot you can do to improve it to more than bareable.

well yea its a matter of a personal choice wheter you want an auto or a manual. really auto box are more inefficient in transmitting the power compared to the manual. so...

You need to realise that the S1 do not have the tiptronic option.

They are slightly heavier on fuel.

Most of us with S2's do not use the tiptronic much.

If you've only driven Fords then boy are you going to feel ripped off when you get a car made properly, with lots of standard features, that Ford only deem as optional. I've have always had Fords, still do. But in a word they are shit in comparison. That's why my Stagea wears an LTD number plate LOL :laughing-smiley-014:

I'll PM you on my opinion of certain websites, so that you know how they work.

Oh and also the auto's are pretty quick, as the turbo stays spooled up (on power) through gearshifts. Where as manuals dump their power.

I just got 9.47 km per 100 km in mine on a country run.

I f you buy a good Stagea, you will be surprised how many mods it may already have. Then you don't need to fork out anyway. My advice is to buy the best that you can afford. Don't buy cheap and do it up.

You'll have a cheap done up car! Mods aren't worth much on resale either.

Thanks guys

IM more leaning to an auto and perhaps a s1 cause then I can buy the stereo system I wanted.. I went looking at stagea today hehe and really took notice.. and I saw the s1 and a s2

John hehehe at the LTD number plate LOL>>> I used to have a LTD then went and brought the au fairmont ghia, I know I like my fords trouble is mike said that I will enjoy this turbo stagea too much hehe. Yep that is my plan buying what I can afford.. thanks and something about the stagea really jumps out to me and I really like hte way they look and drive... damit I wish i had it now.. Thanks if you could pm me about the sites, that would be great

I had a look at stereo systems northfield has quoted me 7000 for fitted for all alpine system, dvd screens, subs, speakers, the whole works

I went to autobarn who quoted me around the 4000 dollars approx or less for a clarion? system

Dh likes the pioneer stuff.

But see 7000 dollars to me seems a hell lot of money for a stereo system.

Any how where was I?

Yeah tommorrow we are going out to another place and Im going to pick out something nice for the stagea but no where near those prices we shall see what I come up with rahter than letting the salesman pick it themselves cause its the beesknees LOL

shell

tell me something if you ave an aftermarket exhaust system how are you going to enjoy the sound system? with all the rumbling noise i find it hard to enjoy the music.

so i prefer to hear the notes from the engine and the exhaust system. LOL!!
