Ok guys, has anyone removed the breathers from the top of the RB cam covers? They look to be a press fit, is this the case? and how did you remove them if you did. i've seen some pics of engines with different arrangements to suit catch cans etc, and was wondering how hard it is to do, without screwing up the covers.

Any help appreciated,

Adam

PS. Does anyone have a spare one of those plaquards that goes on the plug cover? the one that says "Nissan Twin Cam 24v", cause i kinda bent mine trying to pry it off :D...

If you're fitting oil catch cans or oil/air separators, then there's no need to remove the fittings in the rocker covers. All you do is change the plumbing to suit.

The little elbow hose on the passenger side connects to the intake plumbing, so ripping the fittings out of the rocker cover could totally stuff that up.

I've seen a few engine pay pictures of RB25's with stainless braided hosing for breather pipes.  How do people get the alloy end fittings into the rocker covers and what size fittings do you need to use ?

i thought about this myself. The fittings look to be about the equivalent of -12 braid, but you could probably get away with -10.

To attach the fittings, after removing the originals, i'd either:

1) get the existing hole in the rocker cover tapped (either to a pipe fitting, or just a metric fitting for use with copper sealing washers), and then screw in an appropriate adapter to go from my chosen thread to -12 AN.

The only thing i was unsure about when i looked at it, was whether or not there was enough "meat" in the rocker cover to tap the next largest metric fitting above the size of the existing hole.

2)buy a pair of alloy weld on bosses (in -12 AN), and get your friendly local welder to tig them onto the rocker cover.

Cheers
