I've never seen a 'fake' Bride seat with correct looking material. It should have a tag under it at the back as well.

I saw 1 in e-bay although the seller declared that it's a bride "style" seat. with bride etching N stuff. anyways thanks for help~~ altready went through, looks good enough with Japanese writings N stuff, although don't have the tag, I was searching for it.

On a side note, what exactly is the benifit re: bride compared to fakie chinese seat?

I'd expect some difference in foam and material quality, but the price difference is ludicrous. Honestly, I am considering the fakie brand and re unholstering it in leather. I think I'd still come out ahead, especially if I can con mum into breaking out the sewing machine.

I'll probably have to wash her dog a few times in return, but maybe it's worth it.

But back to the seats:

Is there really that much difference in quality, or is it like comparing levis vs Deisel jeans?

To be honest, I'd probably reupholster it anyway if I could.

there is a difference, its like toilet paper.. they all look similar but the feel is much different, especially with repeated use :)

good example cause i hate that shit they put in portaloos on job sites,1ply shit it is...

I hang my toilet paper dry and use them next day~~

lol I got the seats fitted, I think shoulder section is too small for me, so doesn't hug as well..it looks nice. Super hard to get in and out of the car now..lol

its the frame i'd be dubious of

at least the bride genuine has properly constructed frame with good welds;

it's what you can't see with the cheapo chinese copies that make them cheap to make, and possibly unsafe in a stack.

with a/market seats, i will only run a reputable brand name seat (eg recaro, bride, velo etc) and if possible an FIA approved.

Its all about safety and what you want wrapped around you in, god forbid, a high speed car accident. I certainly don't want an untested design seat. Not to mention the ADR legalities of the seat. Companies like OBX and Bride come with certificates to show they meet ADRs.

Great feedback guys.

Has anyone had problems with the chinese seats?

thanks a bunch

I was considering saving the $, but if it is that much of a difference then I will be far better off spending the cash.
