Morning All

I'm thinking the pump may be gone/going in my r32. The power steering works fine for the first few minutes of driving then it all of a sudden switches off and its like steering my old datsun. Any ideas??? should i just change the pump?

is your speedo working?

if so check the solenoid wiring to the power steering rack to ensure the rack is still recieving the power signal from the ecu that controls its assistance

Yeah speedo is still working. i'll check it out over the wknd. thanks. Has this happened to anyone else? i havent really heard of it being a common problem.

hey thats liek me! lol i was asking this question a while back but no one answered :)

ill keep an eye on this thread.

its liek all of a sudden turns off, but mine is at random times... so i would usually stop and then flick the switch to rwd, then back to 4wd. usually fixes it

check fluids in both power steering and hicas. watch speedo CAREFULLY and see if it is bouncing. even just a little bit. sign of worn speedo cable. this does affect steering. check hicas computer bolted to the bottom of the parcel shelf in the boot. theres a light on it that will blink if theres any errors. error codes are in the service manual

There's a light on the HICAS module? where abouts.. There's one on the attessa module, but even the workshop manual only shows to check the dash light once in diagnostic mode for hicas, not any mention of an led indicator..

I checked the fluids a few months ago when it first started happening. I actually had the speedo re-calibrated about 8-10months ago when it was reading ridiculously random speeds. i have noticed that it is bouncing slightly though. The Hicas light usually comes on after the power steering has stopped. they run off the same pump, but they stop at different times??? or would there just be a delay for the hicas stuffing up?
