Hi all, due to smashing a drive shaft at the drags I have put a full GTR rear end in my car which has made my Nismo 1 way diff surplus to my needs.

It was in my car for about 5 months. When we put it in it was inspected and found to be perfect. I have taken the back plate off and looked inside since it came off my car and internally it is still fine.

Basically what you get is the centre and off side half shaft. The drivers shaft is no good as you will see from the last pic. It's fine internally just the flange that bolts to the drive shaft is stuffed. I have been reliably told that any old drivers side half shaft will work, ie, reuse your own when installing it but that you absolutely must have the off side one. This is good for me cos I can still sell it.

I want $700 for it.

Adam, so if I wanted to install this in my car it would be fine? I believe my stock diff is faulty as when turning right hard sometimes the TCS light will come on and immediately cut out some power.

Hows this on the road, does it have any of the clunking noises etc. a 2-way diff would? My cars would be a daily driver so I'm after something quiet/not noticable. Oh and sorry for these two stupid questions but: what are the benefits of this one over the stock one and this is an LSD diff right? Not a locked one?

drive a car with a locker then drive a proper lsd, to totaly diff worlds. basicaly a proper lsd is what u need for a daily. a locker is jst to much and almost impossible to reverse park with lol. your diff doesnt sound like its shagged, probly jst traction control cuttin in, hence the light.

hey bob just like to point out that the reason that you need the driver side shaft is that if you used the passenger side the way the shaft twists eg the torque loading is the opposite way and it will snap the shaft nearly eveytime same for anyone swapping axles make sure they're going to turn the same way or they'll snap/shear

Ok, doesn't sound like a faulty diff Andi.

It wont fit an R32 but it will fit R33 or R34.

Matt, I'm not really sure what you are saying there. I think you are saying don't put the passenger side shaft in the drivers side?? but I'm not sure at all.

Ok I've just been told that the half shaft I need to replace the one I stuffed is from a single spinner. the Viscous LSD's that are in all the turbo Skylines don't fit.

Until I find one then, I am removing the diff from sale except to anyone who takes this information on baord and has one or wants to buy it anyway.

Thanks.

I would be willing to provide a limited warranty to the right person. Eg 6 months and up to 240rwkw or something like that.

I am the SAU NSW Club President so not likely to try to spiv anyone.

I think this will be plenty strong. I would only stipulate that you use high tensile bolts and nuts.

    • I would not be surprised if you are the only person on earth that has the interest/desire to do that lol.  The Haltech base map is a really good starting point, the car will fire easily and drive very well, even on mild boost levels. To me, following your advice sounds like some sort of ancient Chinese water torcher lol (this is not an insult Josh, never change <3)
    • Those car show concepts from the 2000's and 2010's like the Floria and IDx were brilliant and should've gone ahead, at least one of them. But neither Honda nor Nissan are thinking about affordable performance any more, which is truly sad.  Even if Toyota's liquid hydrogen ICE development reaches the point where it's commercially viable and the infrastructure to support it, Honda/Nissan would have to wait until Toyota allow fee access to their patents to offer it with any smaller performance models they released to take advantage of it.
    • A sporty manual RWD coupe with a IL4 Honda engine would only be a good thing I assume we won't see anything released for a few years though, unless informal talks and designs have been going on for a few years,  and due to the current, and future, emmisions and safety requirements, I assume anything "sporty" they would do would be at least some hybrid thingie And hopefully anything they are thinking of has nice lines, without lots of plastic and fake bits hanging off it like that horrendous FK8 that looked like it was designed by a 13 year old The other issue of course in the current market is cost, currently the type R is around $70k, a twin is around $50k Meh, I'm old and grumpy and would rather buy a older model car and waste my coin on that than buying anything currently available new
