The other day I was driving along and the HICAS light came on and the steering got really stiff, I turned the car off and then on again and the light as gone and the steering was back to normal. I looked it up on the forum but every one seems to have a different thing wrong that this causing the problem. Does anyone know a good place on the sunshine coast or Brisbane where I could get it looked at and fixed?

My car is a 96 r33 gts25t

thanks!

On MY car, it's a bad connection somewhere in the speedo. It gets the signal to run the speedo ok most of the time, but it's prone to dropping-out the signal in the wire to the ECU and HICAS computers. I can tell, because the AVC-R takes its speed signal from the wire at the ECU, and when the AVC-R loses the speed signal, the HICAS light is sure to come on within a couple of minutes. It also messes with the variable valving in the Steering rack. (i.e. it goes full-hard or full-soft)
