Yep, there's gains to be had as the internal diameter of the standard TB is 2.3inches take away the surface area of open butterfly. Buy the latest issue of Autosaloon, there is a good issue on upgrading a throttle body on a 33. They had gains of 10rwkw by memory, although it may be bias as they're advertising for the TB as well.

Hi Hoang,

Yes there are gains to be had. I wont give you an exact figures, because i cant as it is depednant on each engine and its specifications, but in general, YES.

GeeTR - this is the pic with a 80mm bilet throttle body

Ahhh, the infamous ISLEEP, and his, even more so manifolds - Hi ya

Def nice piece of kit, was only just reading some threads between yourself and STR8180 on CT.com about how you've tweaked each running to try an equalize flow across a myriad of pressures.

Brilliant work

i use standard inlet plenum and standard throttle body, but i use 3 inch intercooler pipe into plenum from cooler on plenum side and 2.5 inch pipeing from gt3040 turbo elbow on the turbo side. result 347rwkws at 24psi!!! i personally think unless you are running a 700plus hp turbo and 20 plus psi or 600plus horse power save your money. low down response is great too get 15psi at 4000rpm .

everyone is entitled to their opinion, but what i am after is facts, black and white

ever heard of the word efficiency.....of course you will continue making power if you put more boost into it...its how you make the power with how much (*read little) boost what really counts and shows people what the tuner/builder are really made of.

you want low down response, go check out the "custom plenum install" thread on ns.com and that may surprise a few :D:P

i will be doing some back to back testing coming up real soon on a rb25 skyline making 390rwhp on 17psi with standard internals and exhaust manifold, which some may say is the perfect receipient. if all goes to plans we will be logging every 1-2psi and anywhere from around 200rwhp to 400++rwhp to show a true indication of what it does at all power levels

until then, i am happy to listen to all the keyboard warriors tell me their theories, because thats all they are. please dont give me that crap that they are only good for over 300rwkw's because there is nothing to back that up..anywhere !!!! apart from the odd post whore

just jump on the sceptic (lets call it the "i heard") band wagon...you never know, i may join you or on the other hand guess what will be next on your shopping list :P

Ariel

unfortunately not, but if anyone has one, please send free to send it to me, i will pay for postage there and back (even a chinise copy one to compare the two) so i can test them on the same bench i have tested all the others. just like a dyno, this is the best way to get consistent figures.
