Hi all. I'm pretty new to these forums and don't think I have posted yet. So I wanted to say hello and introduce myself. Username is [ slayer ] on any forum i'm on incase people here frequent other sites.

I'm the owner of a black series 2 r33 gtst. I've owned it since November last year, and it was stock except for rear strut brace and cd player.

My first 2 cars were s12's which I sold following the purchase of my 3rd car, my 1988 Honda CRX. I love the CRX but unfortunately was written off last year after an incident with a wombat on the road, and about 3 weeks later I got my Skyline.

So far I have made a custom parcel shelf, and installed 2 way speakers in it, a 4 channel amp in the boot on a custom made panel which covers the battery. Have a 12" sub running off the amp and i'll soon be installing front splits also to run off the amp. I've also installed a turbo timer.

Finding it hard to locate trusted suppliers and workshops etc as all my car enthusiast days have been with the CRX so I feel like a fish out of water and hence waited a while to post on here.

Overall intention is to get the car suitable for track work, but also can't deny I enjoy making the car look a bit different to stock.

Would love to know peoples opinions on my current plans for a Final Konnexion bodykit, Racing Hart CX rims (17" i think), and a flush sitting boot without spoiler.

Terence

Hey welcome Slayer,

just curious how much damage did the wombat do?

I've heard of urban myths that if you ran over a wombat they are so tough that axels can snap, rip off wheels etc. just thought it would be interesting to know the truth.

cheers

Michael

welcome buddy....

you want a track car? start with the suspension and brakes, then come see me for a set of semi-slicks. i'll hook ya up.... :)

Semi-slicks hey ... what can you do?

Also, I hit a wombat a couple of months ago in my Falcon ute. Hit it on the left side. It destroyed the front bumper bar and I needed a wheel alignment but that was it. I reckon I got off light.

i wonder if someone has a copy of the pics aurua took when he nailed a wombat. From what i remember broken front bar, bent intercooler piping, can't rember if that was it or if it also did something to one of his wheels and shock absorber ???

I took this one.. it was very yuck :P

ah yea thats the one shell although looks like it hit the front not the side. either way not pretty

Wow, that looked pretty serious, but I suppose they are sturdy little critters. how much was it to fix?

but not as bad as I thought as in, wheels detached from cars etc.

    • Throwing my spoon to the soup here a bit.  When I installed a 044 back in 2012, along with the direct power mod, the car became very difficult to start. To a point I burned one starter motor as I was late for work and tried to get the thing going. With some tuning and careful use of gas pedal when cranking it became bearable. Trying to make this short as possible, but the 044 died after 2-3 years, after which I went with an AEM 320lph pump, which also died after about 4 years to my dismay. After that I went with a Nismo pump, and while trying diagnose an emissions problem, I noticed for the first time that my fuel pressure was 5bar/72psi on idle, and that removing the vacuum line did nothing. After monitoring the situation, and removing the direct power feed and going back to FPCM in attempts to remedy it, I noticed there was fuel in the pressure regulator vac line. Kept the FPCM, installed AEM external regu and the car became sooo much better in every way, including starting. And I had driven it like it was for 11 years.. Anyway, I agree these are likely two different problems, and the FP problem you just haven't noticed before. I do not know much about haltecs, but what first came to mind was the CAS, which probably is not there any more. So how is the wiring from haltec to gauge cluster? How is the battery voltage and alternator?
    • Your car was auto before? You have different diff ratio (auto vs manual i think? or n/a and turbo?)
    • +1 for getting a screen off alibaba, CarPlay/Android Auto is vastly better than whatever navigation cars had 10 years ago. I got an Android screen for my 2015 BMW, huge difference. Fully compatible with factory stuff including iDrive controls.
