Dear all,

Tomorrow 03/05 is the anniversary date of a friend of mine... he too was a Skyline owner... I will keep his name private for now but I am sure there are people on here who knew of him... I will refer to him as K.T.

K.T was a very passionate Skyline owner... he had a R33 GT-R with over $15,000 with of modifications and was a proud owner of a beast that had around 243 kilowatts at the wheels, it was a beast and had the looks too... K.T loved his ride... he was an exceptional driver too... I have to say, he's probably the best driver I know personally on this planet...

K.T had everything going for him; he was engaged to a nice, pretty girl; had a great job and close, loving and supportive family and friends around him... you could say he had the world at his feet... but one night, everything turned for the worst... K.T and a group of so-called 'underground street racers' decided to organise a street drag early in the morning of a saturday... there were around 7 Japanese cars...

K.T knew that strip of the road as if it was the back of his hand; he had driven past this area numerous times in his the past few years; done various drags and races up and down this piece of road... basically he knew it inside-out... so the race was on... it was K.T's turn... him, his beast, the road, the night skies and the opponent that was lined up next to him...

Roars of two engines could be heard blocks away... with a swift of smoke blanketting the night sky, K.T's R33 GT-R soars into the race with all 4 tyres lit up... the race was fierce, competitive and more importantly - very very dangerous... but K.T was confident as he's done this many times before... but this night would turn out to be much more than K.T has anticipated nor dreamt of... both vehicles... a R33 GT-R Skyline and an equally-modified and powerful 98 Suburu WRX scorched the roads as they flew side-by-side...then from no where; a loud "bang" was heard throughout the surrounding streets...for some unknown reason, whilst travelling at around 180 km/r K.T's Skyline lost control and with some wrong tilt of the wheel, K.T's Skyline plunged head-on onto a metal pole... at an estimated peak spead of around 200 km/h... the Skyline literally scattered into a hundred pieces and contorted itself around the metal power severing the vehicle in two and causing debre to fly at all different directions... K.T's body was destroyed... without going into the graphics... K.T's died instantly upon impact... the legendary Skyline was no more... but more importantly, with a flick of a button, with a blink of an eye... K.T had dissapeared forever from this world... he was gone... his body was severely destroyed and upon impact he had lost his life, probably without him even realising at the time...

K.T left behind his soon-to-be wife, a prosperous career, his loved ones and all that life could offer him... it was just 23 years of age... a total waste... a regretful accident, a tragic lost of life... but you know, the saddest thing was... all this could have been avoided... K.T was no more... as for the other driver of the Subaru WRX... after K.T's Skyline hit the metal pole, it couldn't stop in time and lost control...subsequently hitting a series of nearby tram-trace fences and that driver was impiled within his car and was pronounced dead when paramedics arrived on the scene...

That's right people, two lives were lost within a matter of seconds... two lives... we're not talking about a game her, if you street race, you're a bloody fool, a bloody idiot... you think it's cool... ok, you love your car, you want to push it to it's potential and see what your modifications can do to it's performance... fair enough, bring it to a track... it doesn't cost much, there's so many around... bring it to a god-damn track and kick the pedal to the metal... do it on the road where innocent people share the road with you is not cool, this is sickening...

Remember people, a car is not a toy - sure, it's fun cruising, it's transportation and sometimes a necessity etc... but it can also be a leathal weapon... please, take K.T's example - drive safely and responsively... this is no joke... we're racing with our lives and those that we share the road with...

You think Street Racing is cool? Wait 'til you see your car in 1,000 pieces shattered across the road, when you're in hospital and the doctor gives you the very sad news that they have to ampulate your leg or something... or, what if you kill someone due to street racing... can you live with yourself...

Good bless you all - if this message does anything... I just hope we all drive safely and responsively on the roads.

I know... I was there... I saw K.T before the drag happened and after when it concluded... just a matter of seconds separating the two events... before / after... let me just say a final message to everyone... the aftermath is not easy on the eyes... it brings tears to your eyes when you see your friend lying on the road with pieces of his body shattered, severed and scattered in 100 directions all over the road... this could be you...

Please do not reply with sarcastic, rude or silly comments... this is a real person's life we're talking about...

For those that knew K.T, you know where to meet tomorrow for his remeberance... God bless K.T and his family...

Rest in peace my friend, KIEN...

Right you are, my friend... there's nothing wrong with want to push your car to it's full potential etc... nothing wrong whatsoever... we all do... I do... you do, most of us do... but do it on the track AS A REAL MAN as it were... do it on the road where innocent people share it with you and think you're cool and topshit... ha ha ha.... I think we all would vouge that this is what an idiotic person would think of doing...

Just a note to people here that knew of KIEN ... please meet at the uusual place where Kien used to organise cruises near Chadstone... so yeah, if you see 20+ Skylines tomorrow... you know why... hope you can take your hat off for a fellow Skyline enthusiast...

RIP buddy

this is a VERY EDUCATING THREAD.......

everyone please read this i hope you dont mind me putting a link in my sig...very well written as well

Thanks mate... it would be an honour if you to put it in your signature... I'm sure Kien will be very pleased if he was alive today... if his death could do one small thing... he'd hope that young people like us that are still alive today would think twice before hitting the throttle and street race...

Thanks again... I sincerely hope, we all will be safe drivers... for our own sake and that of our family and friends...

jeez - thats a very graphic description  .....RIP to your buddy

and yeah - it takes only one second for things to go wrong, and everything that we lived for to go down the drain....would hate to hear that happening to family, friends and anyone from the 3 car clubs im a member of

Enjoy the car - but only in safe and controlled environments. Public roads - should be left just for cruising and not street racing

thats the most scary thought.....

i was involved in an accident in my old car which could have killed me. thats how i learned not to race on the road and also not to ride with the driver who can not handle the car.

RIP to your friend..

But still think you're a dik head and a Hypocrite.

OK guys, after much discussions on this thread... I and a friend decided to put RB and VTEC to the test... took the car to an empty area with straight road... lined the two up... my r33 tubo Skyline with a lot of mods and my friends turbo 97 civic also with a shitload of mods... straight down the strip ... 1/4 mile - 400 metres... at the start... around 100 metres, the VTEC engine is brutal lead by as much as 1 car's length and it roared... screaming down the piece of road... damn, VTEC kicks in at around 4,500 rpm... a kick back and then thrust forward ignites the spool of Honda's legendary VTEC engine... then.... slowly but surely.... the engined dubbed "RACE BREAD" emerges from the ages and dominates... at around 5,000 rpms and rising... the engine starts to climb and then bang... the spool and flutter of forced-induction kicks in.... WHAM BHAM THANK YOU MAAM the Skyline totally destroys the VTEC Honda vehicle and tears it into shreads...

That's right... at around 275 metres close to 300 mentres, BANG... leaves the turboed Civic for dead.... finally both cars jet over the 400 meter (quarter mile) strip with the Skyline leading by more just 1 car's length... this proves it... turboed or not... RB destroys VTEC... why? I think it'e because RB's are maded to be revved...revvved and revved again... they play amongst the skies... that's right... 5,000 rpms and above close to redline - this is where the RB/Skyline engine lives... whereas VTEC is for low-end power... owns at the start but in the high RPMS... VTEC is weak and can be crushed...

So there we have it folks... VTEC Yo! is no match for a turboed Skyline beast...

Your thoughts and analysis on this would be good...

Very sad story and rest in peace.

There is a huge difference between specifically organizing an illegal street drag and doing a course run at excess 100 KM/H+ than just giving it a small booting off the lights and reaching the legal speed limit.

Unfourtunately people who organise these types of events on the streets are bound to end up, sorry, scared and/or dead. They often involve others around them (usually innocent by standers or other innocent drivers).

Sadly this will never end unles their car gets confiscated after repeated offences.

RIP KT . sad story , i agree with GTST. I mean if I went thru that, i would probably not street race anymore at all.. Not that I do. I just watch. and wait for track days. even tracks arnt that safe, But at least you have an area around the track to go off and brush off a bit of speed before impact. Not like streets or industrial estates.

    • I did a skidpan night at SMSP this week, it was much cheaper than $350. But yeah, you need to slap an LSD in that thing.  I put an OS Giken in the 370Z and it's f**king MARVELOUS even compared to Nissan's viscous LSD. So you're saying it's free now that it's a housing estate? 😂
    • Nah, the car seems to run exactly as it did prior, in saying this it does "seem" to be better down low, like more eager to rev, but that may be 100% placebo effect from intake noise But, I'm not worried about it at all, in the end it is a fairly low compression NA engine that has a well shrouded intake,  if it is getting hotter IAT I cannot notice anything negative performance wise from the seat of my pants thrashing it about on the street or sitting in traffic, so meh, car now now makes induction noise so I'm happy
    • Do you have an IAT sensor? It's worth checking it to see. You may be suprised how little gap you actually need to flood your engine with hot air. (I tape up my airbox for a reason) :p
    • @KinkstaahKrinkle paint the "silver" alloy, not the red filter frame Engine bay heat won't be a issue worth worrying about as the silver alloy blocks it off on 3 sides, as for the top, the bonnet seals most of it and the big OEM CAI intake snorkel is still fitted in its original position  I will head into Clark's Rubber when I have some time to grab some pinch weld to tidy up the alloy after I paint it As for performance, I honestly wasn't expecting any, the only reason I got it is because the intake noise sounds cool to my old ears when I'm feeding it the beans Sometimes it's the silly things you do in in life that gives the most fun, and I do love anything that makes cool car noises In other news: I survived 4 nights at sea with Jackie not throwing me over board, holidays are continuing now as we are currently chilling at the Beachcomber in Toukley, after taking the coast roads from Sydney in the MX5, top down all the way, Toukley is where I spent a good deal of my youth holidaying during the summer months, there's lots of reminiscing going on,  and lots of beaches and old houses to visit Next on the list is to head to Batemans Bay for a few days, but we will take the Commodore out to stretch its legs, then Commodore hasn't really moved for months
    • There’s probably people who’d like to do it and then when it comes to putting their hands in their pockets they’ll all disappear into the shadows
