by the way... the car im working on had 190rwhp with 3inch kakimato cat back zorst on stock boost. now it has front pipe, hi flow cat, pod, and 12psi... car hasnt seen dyno yet but car is now getting piggy back comp, bigger turbo and front mount. will post some figures once i dyno it.

the auto will die at around 170rwkw.

getting one rebuilt though would reap great rewards. a nice stall converter, and shift kit.

for the price though you could just go a manual, but depends what you want.

tuff auto boxes really do give the car a kick in the ass, and give greater access to power though gear changes. (you dont lose as much boost)

Hi guys, it is generally given that an auto box will soak up around 20 kw more than a manual. We typically see 50 to 55 kw losses through a manual Skyline box and 70 to 75 kw though an auto.

Hope that helps

My brother has a auto R33GTSt it hammers off the line, we beat a R33 manual with way more mods, we had 4 people in the car too. The passenger of the other 33 was so pissed off he wanted to start a fight (wanker, the 4 of us would have distroyed them, it's people like that give turbo cars a bad name)

The good thing is that launches on the street are way easier and more predictable in an auto. However I'm sure a well lauched manual would be faster of the line but it is a lot harder to do. The only thing that has got the jump of the line was a modded WRX. We have been chopped a few times be worked V8 commos and various other nissans, but only after they reeled us in after we hosed them of the line. We beat a manul R32 with the usual mods for about 250-300 meters untill it flew past.

Another thing that sucks about the auto (besides robbing power) is that it's almost impossible to change gears at or near redline becuase when you knock it up a gear it takes a while to respond, resulting in a hit of the rev limmiter. If you let the auto change do its thing, it doesn't jump back a gear when you want it to and it short changes by 500-700 rpm.

We will be sure to take it to Willowbank after we have done a few more mods. We are hoping for low-mid 14's, which I don't think is unrealistic.

what mods have you got on your auto?

have you ever gone over 190kph in your auto?

my series 2 seems to have a auto speed cut there or otherwise a serious loss of power.

the previous 180kph speed cut has been removed sucessfully though

Hey guys, i got a R33 gts-t Auto as well. And it launches really well. can beat a lot of cars off the line, even rex's. however like DennisRB30 said, they catch up. which is a bit depressing cos thats when the manaul skylines kill the rex's in 2 and 3rd gears. But im a P plater and this is my first car and is a pretty awsome car. Aw and it's Stock as a rock, ive only changed the gear or the 'shift' stick cos i find the skyline auto shifters a lil boring and i have a newer shifter where u press the shift button on the top rather than the side and it also has a O/d button as well (OBX 80 bucks). the 1 - 2 - D works well, i have found that it is quicker to go from 0-100 then letting the car do it. I have driven a few manual skylines and they feel a lot faster and the kick back when u floor is much better. THe o/d off on freeways gives very quick acceleration, say from 100-145 with ease but drinks fuel like no tommorow. but auto's drink more generally anyways. the fuel consumption is shocking. Auto skylines are a great choice if it's ya first car. im getting off my P's soon so i think is time i moved on to the wonders of the manual world :D

I have an auto to and with just stock everything apart from a pod filter and twin dump full 3" exhaust I was getting 167rwkw. I reset the ecu and it gained another 10rwkw, but completely stock before doing anything to the car it was getting 147rwkw.

Now I've added a S-AFC and upped the boost to 12psi and it feels alot faster in the top end but now a bloody excel can beat me for the first 20m :P

Launches are a pain :)

Would it be me that launch properly or something to do with the boost/safc? The safc hasn't been tuned yet only the settings out of the manual. And I only get 200k's to a tank.

man 200ks to the tank is awful... my car with 360rwhp does better then that with hard driving (250+km) cruising it does almost 350km to the tank. From sydney to brisbane i went through 2 1/4 tanks... personally i think for the tune my car is at thats awesome but my cousin has the same problem with his auto R33 aswell 300-350km max from a tank in day to day driving, must be an auto skyline prob

Yeah I checked for leaks its all fine, I think its what you said Edge. I took it to Bris Turbo and Tuning and they said that the ebc isn't set up right with the S-AFC (Which is odd seing they installed and tuned both of them) and the boost controller is doing something funny where more fuel has to be pumped in to compensate for the boost loss? I have nfi what this means but hey it sounded right and would explain a few things :D

Does this sound right to you guys?

and no excels dont beat me just straight off the line like first 10-20m until boost kicks in, but I'd hate to see the car without a turbo :D

I wish I could get 500k a tank... that'd be pretty nice :)

What i'm saying is you should be able to flog excels off the line as well. As as example... Excel pulls up at the lights, revs his sewing machine engine, you give it a bit of stall just before the wheels start spinning, lights turn green and you go, the excel INSTANTLY dissapears in the distance.

My bothers one hammers of the line and it gets 400-450 kms per tank too.
