for the 10K is is going to cost to do the swap your sr with another 10k spent on it would eat the 26. a stock rb26 in a S13 is a slug.... trust me ive been there.

Wow, you must drive 8-9 sec cars on a daily basis if a stock '26 in a s13, let alone a s14, is a slug

Car:

1995 240sx SE

RB26DETT, stock, no power mods, running 14ish psi

Slicks

LSD

Stock suspension

Times:

R/T..................0.277

60'..................1.752

330.................5.027

1/8..................7.679

MPH.................93.52

1000...............9.956

1/4..................11.863

MPH.................120.64

btw: i use his car as an example because not many people put a '26 ina 240sx and leave stock turbos on. one of those "might as well before it goes in" kinda things.

i was just down the road looking at a running gtr motor in a car(shit heap) with a box (25det) behind it

drove up the street no dramas

shit the clutch didnt even slip

4k take the whole thing????????????????#

now assuming it has compression

i dont see how its going to cost me another 2k to buy a r32 crossmember and a r32 radiator, shit for 6k i can even buy the compression tester, the engine crane and a few slabs to get us through the 8 wires we need to hook up to get the old girl running. even enough in the budget for oil and filters

#note: i do realise that the engine probably is not the best one but hey it can be done

#this would be a cheap job and you would be up for extra cash eventually... or you might get lucky!

anyway beer rocks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Slicks

Need we go into it more?

Put slicks on it with the SR with cost vs cost mods and you'll see the same, if not a faster time because money saved on the conversion goes into SR powerups.

    • Yes, me too!!!!  I need to find a something that has all the abbreviations for what these cars have LOL
    • Dang.....  that is some good info.  Thank you.    Yes, I plan to do some troubleshooting before I actually just throw parts at it.  I was doing some investigating on parts, just to get a head start, if wiring and stuff all looked good.
    • No worries, now that I'm closer to 70yo than not, this sort of stuff will one day be 'lost knowledge'... and even now, I wonder just how many folks out there have the Kent-Moore J34291 shim setting tool set to set end clearances rebuilding these...but right the now, there's less and less hard parts available, and you'll be headed to the wreckers to buy a donor box if it's worn out...(or pay a shop to do exactly the same thing). In a way, it's fortunate the 4-speed was so popular, because there's still heaps of consumables (banners kits, bearings & plates etc) around ~ these early 5-speeds weren't exactly that prevalent, so there's not quite as much about for them... but it's a race between perceived demand for these parts, versus how much they fetch at the shredder for recycling purposes...
    • I hope one day I can do it like you. Your engine looks great.
    • If there's nothing else I can do I'll probably do something like that Someone on the internet said that ca20s and ca18 engine blocks are the same and that you can use a ca20 engine block and put ca18det parts to make a ca20det Do you think this is possible or will it damage the engine?
