but honestly.. they are a peice of cake to make!

oh and.. be extra sure when ( if anyone does buy the custom o2 sensor removal tool ) just make sure if you buy the socket type that its deep enough to fit over the socket.. cause you need one Deeper than most deep sockets..

Oh and.. my update ( after changing the sensor last weekend ) I think its made a BIT of difference . but not a massive difference. but only done 1/4 tank so far.

we got our first country trip this weekend.. so that will be interesting to see what we get out of it

Just got my Stagea last Friday, bought it from UK and went back to Germany.

Now it´s the first Stagea in my country, and though I´m quite happy with the car optics, handling etc. I think the auto is just horrible!

It´s a modified RS-Four V, modded by Garage Saurus with RB26 crank, N1 87mm pistons, TD05-18G Turbo, Z32 afm, 555cc injectors and blitz intake + exhaust.

Back from UK to Germany I got 13.5 and 14.5l/100km with cruising at constant 110-130km/h on highways, but the third tank which included city driving just got me about 18.2l/100km!

Since I bought the car as a daily driver this is just horrible, especially since fuel is between 1,38 and 1,51€ here - which is between 2,18 and 2,38 AUD!

Even though the car has dyno proven 416bhp, I can´t believe this figures, car feels a bit like driving with slipping clutch or handbrake pulled all the time...it runs well under full throttle, but not as beasty as I exspected (got several GTR between 350 and 400bhp and a 300bhp GTT to compare with).

Do you guys think a manual conversion will help me on fuel economy?

Wow! A Stagea in Germany, that's awesome! Do you have any pictures yet? Be sure to post them up if/when you do.

Your city consumption looks pretty high, but just like any car the best bet is to accelerate smoothly and lightly. With that power, unfortunately, the downside is higher consumption. You have roughly 150HP more than most of us here in Australia generally aim for. Do you know what computer is running the engine - is it a modified factory one or is there a piggy-back unit (or a few extra devices) working on the standard ECU?

I wonder how fast a Stagea really can go, you might well be the person to answer this for us (if yours isn't speed restricted).

I think car has a ECU remap, and yes it´s unrestricted.

I did not try any high speed runs yet, fastest I did was about 230kmh (GPS measurement - odometer just got the 180km/h scale).

Will maybe try out how fast it gets when I´m around with a friend next time (so he can have a look at the notebook while I drive).

After replacing my O2 sensor, I have managed to get 600k out of 62L. Mostly highway driving, but a couple of days of town and around also. (Previously got 13L/100k with a busted O2 Sensor).

Works out at pretty much 9.7L/100k for the trip, with a fully loaded boot and a car full of family.

At today's petrol prices for BP Ultimate in NZL, it now costs me $110 to fill from empty at $1.84/L. You guys in Oz are lucky!

On my holiday drive Brisbane to Kempsey and back.

10.9 litres per 100km BP 95 (9.10 km/litre)

10.3 liters per 100km BP 98 (9.68 km/litre)

Both runs did the 540km trip in 6 hours overtook anything in my way :)

... and sat on a steady 110km/h in 100 zone and 120km/h in the 110km zone

Seconded!! Chuckie pointed out an R34 at the drags here in Perth that has had a dual fuel conversion done to its Neo and it looks the goods, and the fact that I looked at it waiting in the staging lanes leads me to believe it will go hard too :) I was quite impressed with the overall way it was built, but I rekon the kit would go even better in a stagea due to more room in the back for the tanks(s)

My guess would be the 3.5L 350Z engine would have better fuel economy. Just seems to be more guesswork in getting mixtures 100% accurate in a turbo car.

so is this falcon o2 sensor a better sensor than the stock one? or is it just that your stock one was faulty and the falcon one is cheaper than a replacement stock one?

I found that my exhaust didn't make much difference until I also got the Apexi SAFC installed and tuned. The biggest difference however was in the ignition timing. Got me an extra 10awkw and noticeably more response and better fuel economy. 13-14L/100km before the tune -> 11.5-12.5L/100km after.

There are now better tuning options than the SAFC however...depending on budget.

Some people have mentioned running these cars on LPG a few posts ago -"chukie" +"sinky rooster" etc.

I thought it fitting that I share my fuel consumption figures that I have so far got with my dedicated LPG Series 2 Stagea Neo engine. (Note - yet to be dyno tuned).

Taking an apples vs apples approach, on the same trip that I do daily, 5 days a week (approx 50% highway, 50% city)

Petrol consumption was approx between 13.5-15.5 litres/100 (98 RON).

LPG consumption is approx between 15.5-17.5 litres/100 (100 RON)

The LPG figure is quite good and was about as expected considering the quicker burn rate of LPG compared with petrol.

I would like to see if the dyno-tuning and/or running on "premuim LPG" (100% propane-105+ RON) will have any change on the fuel economy. The "premuim LPG" is available as I understand from a few select places here in Melbourne metro area direct from the bowser.

To make way for the LPG system, the fuel tank was replaced with a manifold tri-cylinder pack in the same location under the car- thereby not affecting the wagon/cargo space at all which is the way I wanted it.

The car still needs to go back to be properly dyno tuned, to dial in a bit more timing advance as LPG thrives on this, and other final adjustaments but initial indications are that the system fitted performs very well given that there are no performance modifications to the car at all.

The installers/tuners who performed the work specialise in performance LPG conversions- All those sub 12 sec RB30 Turbo Nissan powered VL Comoodores you may have heard about?

PS: Those who do not like LPG are requested not to NEGATIVELY COMMENT as the positives and negatives of LPG have been discussed many times before in the other sections of this forum and their opinions are well documented- Do a search. This thread is about fuel economy.

hmm where should i start on this topc? Well here goes. 3 main fuel categories are gasoline, diesel and LPG. Each type of fuel has it own pro and cons.

Gasoline engine is the mainstream for all car manufacturer since god knows when. Now over the years people have been raising concern over the gas mileage on these cars. Hence all continental cars when down the drain as they as in general suck more fuel compared to the japanese. In terms of power, torque, gasoline engine topped the chart since the muscle car era. until now.

Diesel engine the new type "common rail" has able to match or even some cases surpass the performance of the gasoline engine. Proven by the european car manufacturer such as bmws, mercs, audi ,ford, GM, renault, peugot and citroen. And for the first time the diesel engine has finally matched the emmision and perform far better emission than the gasoline engine counter parts. Its the new GM "duramax" engine which will be available at the end of the year fitted onto the Hummer H3 range.

Now for LPG. Lpg hmm. I think only australia has utilize it in such a big scale. Although other countires have limitted application on it such as taxis and public transport. Lpg engine tend to run cleaner and its good or if not better for the environment. Its cheap to run like what most people said. And thats true to a certain extend. Cost of converting 3k worth? Now in order to make your money back on the lpg conversion, how many liters of LPG do you need to buy in order to make the savings worth while? Say for an example round figures A$15k @A$1.50/ltr. Thats about 10,000ltr. Now say for Lpg@ A$0.75/ltr for 10,000ltr and that equates to A$7.5k. DOnt forget though theres a difference in fuel comsumption between a gasoline and LPG. Lpg tend to chew through faster at about 30%. Therefore 1ltr of gasoline= 1.3ltr of lpg. SO wheres the savings? And the fact is the govt ( ex horward) was going to raise the cost of LPG by A$0.10/year for the next 10 years. So i think we are goin to get suckered by the government to get us to convert our cars into LPGs!!

As fir diesel its out of our league cos we have to get a new diesel car in order to match the performance of the old gasoline cars like the stagea. The diesel cars still have not catch the trend into high perdormance yet. Although the Audis have made an impact on the LE MANS races. We will need a bunch of crazy japanese engineers to make a high performance diesel car!! :down: . then it will be really cool. Just imagine of the high torque that you can get from the car. A mercs 270CDI can generate 400nm of torque and have a low fuel consumption.

Im not having a go at LPG. I was actually thinking of geting another SUV and convert it into LPG but the thought of getting suckered into it by the govt puts me off. Even though the Lpg are a cleaner fuel to burn but i will still have to think about it first.

Although we can use the United boost 98 now. Thats what im using on my 260rs at the moment. :blink:

...so is this falcon o2 sensor a better sensor than the stock one? or is it just that your stock one was faulty and the falcon one is cheaper than a replacement stock one?

Can't tell you if there was a difference with km/litre. The car has done 80k km's and I thought I would just give it a new as I am sure I read somewhere you should change them at 40 or 50k (could be wrong).

I did notice that it seemed to run a little smoother and I have the general feel it was a fraction better on fuel but nothing to back it up.

    • I'd need to check my notes at work Duncan, but I'm pretty sure most of that is purely OBD2 on the display. How quickly is it all able to update? Do you have any internet capability in your workshop with a laptop?
    • Yeah just gonna be near stock runner only want 180kw to 210kw can’t find anything been looking ages looked in to rb25 but money is tight as the moment need the car back on the road 
    • From there it is trickier. Ecutek seems to be one of those closed ecosystems where everyone password protects their tunes which means I either choose a tuner and can't change from them and can't make any changes myself for any reason, or I have to buy the tuning software (about $4k) and then get someone to tune from scratch (which is not simple with all the multi dimensional tables these days). Once you buy about 300 "flash points" per ECU you can get it tuned and add their "RaceROM" function which hacks extra functionality like launch control onto the ECU, and also makes extra data available for logging over CAN Not sure what I'll do there yet; I'm tempted to use one of the overseas shops that does billions of remote tunes of the platform instead of starting from scratch locally, a lot can be done online these days.
    • Can I log IAT eh? Well, can now So next thing was looking at data logging. Not straight forward because none of the motorsport displays have cracked the nissan/inifinti CAN and ECU based displays don't do g logging, lap timing, predictive laps etc.  So, I bought an Ecutek dongle from Tunehouse (Oz distributor). Even without a tune onboard that allows display and logging of about 50 parameters via Android (and presumably iOS) app. Approx 600 for the bluetooth + Usb version That gives me (pretty ugly but) functional dash display on Android And logging of these parameters I'll play around a bit over the break, but at least now I can make sure I have oil pressure when I get to some track testing.
