FYI - Been doing freeway k's for work and have done 440k's and still have a quarter of a tank left...... averaging 120k'hour

I presume that you are talking about the Evo there Jules as your M35 should be getting a minimum of 10km/L cruising at 120kph.

On average I get 620-640km's before the fuel light comes on. That's with freeway (110-130kph), hills & school zones every day.

Mods are 3" stainless exhaust from the dump, Hi-Flow turbo (max boost 1bar @ 3700rpm) & LMX5 rims.

The screen has stated 8.8k/L over the last 35,000k's. Should get even better with Piggyback ECU....

I have found that if you accelerate quickly to a speed 10kph faster than you want to cruise at, then gently ease off and hold once you reach intended speed, you can achieve some pretty impressive economy with high speed cruising (should be able to hold ~12km/L @ 120kph).

I've got a stock S2 Stagea and I get approx 550km per tank on the highway. That is stretching it to almost empty but as I drove from Brisbane to Albury for a work course I was quite happy with that. Only fuelled up 4 times the whole way, just to be safe.

in my S2 auto, im getting 350-380km to a tank city/town driving, and 450km highway driving. my O2 sensor just died this week, just replaced it a filled the tank up today. i'll see how i go with the new one, hopefully abit better.

470kms from full to the brim with standard fuel to 1/4 tank traveling at 107kmph under the control of cruise

felt confident to do another 60kms to the next town but being in the middle of nowhere we thought it wasnt worth the risk of running out, esp if continuous overtaking was needed

car is still stock as a rock

working on getting a new higher flowing air filter and lighter oil

will see how it goes there after and see if it makes a noteable difference

Thats about right, NEO's are meant to be better than the older varient.

Remeber people, slightly higher tyre pressures helps a lot with fwy driving, i run 40psi most of the time in 225/50/16 RE001's, have fmic, full exhaust(with cat), and get 400 around town, and over 500 from 3/4 a tank on the fwy

Between Henri Robert and Mystery Road, and a SFQ run up Mc Donald Rd, 16 is the best I can get. 3" JJ to full 3' cannon. Its worth it.

Any of you GC drivers try up and down Mystery Road. Especially down. Dont forget the limit is 60.

yeh great. i have to pay $1.50 - $1.65 p/l of bp ult 98 in west aussy sth west !! it sukks

if u never use boost i get 480km max for full tank. if i drive hard ( hiway and city ) i get 280km per full tank which says about 76ltrs ( im guessing its max is 78 not 68 ltrs total capacity ) and my car is 101% orig stok auto.

i might consider when the odo hits 80000kms to fit a new o2 sensor in as i doubt it has been replaced ever and could save a bit in fuel.

would running it in snow mode contribute to better fuel economy as it produces less boost for longer ? - not in stop start conditions obviously as i hardly consider starts from standstill in 2nd to be efficient and good for the gearbox but i noticed when i had cruise on when it dropped 5kms up a hill the car kicked back and came on boost pretty hard which tends to drink the fuel

thinking by limiting boost would it better economy?

also i played around with the auto as i held the gear in 4th (auto) so when it goes up hill instead of kicking back a gear it just spools up and keeps the revs below 2500 in undulating roads at 100kms.

holding gears created a more comfortable ride and lessened the kicking back, entering warp speed back to the speed limit.

still from gladstone to gold coast, drive for 3 days and back on 3 tanks @ $1.18 per litre is not too bad with the aircon on all the time.

= about $200 all up in fuel as it was filled at 1/4 everythime

compared to plane tickets to brisbane were $150 pp one way

tilt train is $85 pp

then for both the above you need to get the extra 100kms from brisbane to surfers and catch cabs everywhere

then find your way home.

multiply the above prices by 2 for 2 adults, + lugguage fees and return trips...

yeah it is no daewoo or kia but it is spaceous, comfortable, convenient, luxurious, reliable(?) and cheaper than available long distance public transport to which i have tried previously.

just be nice to knock the weekly fuel back a tad but overall chen comparing to the above is really not too bad

I have not yet been up or down Mystery Road yet, but have been making it almost a weekly habit to head through Mt Warren Park and up the Tamborine mountain from there. I might sound a bit silly here, but maybe it's cause I am still learning the car, but it is actually "difficult" to do the speed limit (60) through there. Some of those bends are very tight !!

Back on topic, I average 620klms till the fuel light comes on when I am mainly HWY driving 100-110klms + some 60 zones, school zones (all part of the daily drive). If I have alot of onsite jobs during the day, I can sometimes see only 500-520 till the light comes on. And under both circumstances I still give it a bootfull here and there :thumbsup:

I was reading (or at least attempting to read japanese) a M35 Stagea manual on the weekend and it had some interesting information on fuel economy in it.

Could not read the model number but it listed 3 Stagea models with the VQ25DET fitted with weights from 1680kg to 1770kg. It also listed there average fuel consumption from 9.0km/L (1680kg) through to 8.4km/L (1780kg).

Helps explain why the ARX never gets the same sort of economy as the RS & RX cars.

I'm averaging better than 10L/100km on long trips/highway etc and around 12L/100km on my run to work and back (10-25min drive depending on traffic). Pretty happy with that, considering my M35 is completely stock. ;)

Having said that, I am currently getting about 6.5L per 100kms!!!

I am of course driving a manual Mazda 121 at the moment :P

    • My take on gg2 48mm, 54mm, 58mm, and 62mm compressor map for same size compressor vs gg1 : All gg2 only outflow gg1 above 20 psi. As all g gen 2 surge line at lower left of comp map move to the right, all gg2 sacrifice spool vs same size gg1, surge line move to the right worst for 54mm gg2. So for same size compressor if you want best response, use gg1, if you want max hp at >20psi use gg2 but you will be laggier vs same size gg1. Max compressor efficiency drops to max 75% on all gg2 vs max 76%-80% of same size gg1. Iirc lower efficiency means hotter iat less dense air so lower hp at same operating point of comp map. Also curious why gg2 is mapped to lower max rpm vs same size gg1 (only 48mm size both gg1 gg2 mapped to same rpm) : 54mm gg1 165,000 rpm  vs  gg2 160,000 rpm. 58mm gg1 150,000 rpm vs gg2 140,000rpm. 62mm gg1 145,000 rpm vs gg2 140,000 rpm. If gg2 can safely spin to gg1 rpm then they can flow a bit more than as mapped. Good thing that all gg 2 interchange compressor and turbine housings with same size gg 1. So gg1 owners can buy gg2 chra only if planning to boost >20psi.
    • My stuff is all with Shannon's, granted, I don't really have imports I'm driving on the road, however, I've had multiple cars at the same time with them. Presently we have the Landcruiser on laid up cover, Sarah's Kluger on full cover, and the house insured. About 18 months ago Sarah wrote her Subaru Liberty GTB off, insured with Shannon's, and the payout, and buy back of the wreck was super quick. In 2020 we had the VF Commodore totalled in a major hailstorm. Storm was on the Saturday, I called on the Sunday and lodged it, vehicle was towed on Tuesday night, assessment team called on Wednesday to say it was a total loss and get payout details, money was in the bank on Thursday morning. Have had a few other claims both at fault, and not at fault, over the years, and never had an issue with them.   Funnily enough, they're also the cheapest insurer I find for things like Sarah's Kluger.   I will say I'm less impressed dealing with them lately around "the experience", as a lot of their staff that you deal with aren't car enthusiasts. Shannon's has a much more main stream feel ever since they decided to become "big corporate", laid a heap of staff off, and then hired a bunch of non enthusiasts. At the same time they've been making a push to be less "call us and we'll personally have someone who cares help" to "hey, this computer can do stuff for you" and are trying to get more square pegs to fit round holes. (That's just the vibe I get from them). Again, have had no issues with claims with them, but get a bit of a "less personal" feel from them.
    • A thing I wasn’t happy with with enthusiast was during the initial phone call they told me they’d insure it for 130k but needed photos.   I then sent them photos and they told me $80k as there were other cars either similar modifications available for around that price, I told them to send me the links to said cars so that I can buy them. i then sent the modification list with prices of the parts (no labor) and the price then came to 115k, which is still shy of the 130 that was agreed in the initial phone call

    • I agree that delayed payment probably isn't the most suitable solution. It seems a solid complete transaction would be best. As I wouldn't be using this sale as a line of credit that would typically earn interest, we can probably arrange a much cleaner single transaction deal. I can do $92.52 today. Would you prefer EFT, or Cash on Pickup?  😛
