exhaust gauze

hey guys, whats the deal with the gauze type mesh stuff inside the exhaust?

mine was poking out a bit, and i pushed it back in...

can i take it out? whats its purpose?

thats an easy fix:

Turn your car off, Push an Apple in the pipe, START the car with your foot to the floor

sorry not taking away from the topic but what would that do to the car? blow up the engine, exhaust or just shoot the apple?

and coco69: i dont know for sure but its probably just a baffle (spelling) plate, they make it quiter. take it out and see if its noisier? if not keep it out its just a restriction

Can you post a picture?Bythe sounds of it, muffler's guts are falling out, or someone had stuck some mesh in to reduse the noise.

If you are talking about the mesh stuff sticking out of one of the holes inside your rear muffler/barrel, thats the steel packing...

leave it alone...

the whole thing is full of them...

hahaha - but i stick lucky cups inside my exhaust all the time, i got a dual 3.5" mufflers and tips. pop the lucky cups in, floor it and away they pop.

thanx guys, but kinda mixed opinions, i feel like taking it out, its poking out of one tip and its all the way inside the other...

don't pull any of the packing out of the muffler. And stop putting 'lucky cups' and other objects (!) into your exhaust.

muffles sound like fiberglass packing does...

not as efficient as fiberglass but won't melt away on a turbo car either...
