Hey I've got a series 2 r33.

It's pretty much stock except for splitfire coilpacks and a heavy duty clutch.

I'm getting a turbo back highflow exhaust in the next week or two and am going to get a turbosmart boost controller at the same time and up it to 10psi.

The issue:

For these mods, is it worth getting a justjap cooler for a few hundred more than an r34 smic, or is an r34 smic all that is needed?

Can more boost be run (say 12psi) be run safely through an r34 smic as compared to the r33 smic?

With 12psi is in unrealistic to aim for a mid 14??

Also, does wrapping the dump and front pipe of the exhaust in heat wrap make much of a difference? Is it worth doing?

Thanks to whoever helps me out.

Steve.

I got full exhaust- 14.0 secs flat..

other mods: pod filter.. thats not really a performance mod.. n thats basically it.. 14 flat.. With 18inch rims front, 17inch rears.. lol

Anyways, the 34 cooler will be enough for around 200-210kw..

I wouldnt go past 0.8 bar, till you get your car tuned!!

if you are on a tight budget, add an SAFC in there and get it tuned.

SAFC with the blue screen is worth about $300 or so. Tune is about $150.

install it yourself..

it only has like 6 wires.

comes with instructions.

and you can search and find the ECU pin out diagram for your car on here somewhere..

that way, with your r34 cooler, exhaust, and extra boost, you can have the fueling tuned to make sure it's safe and also gain more power at the same time..

yes.

heat wrap the dump and front pipe if you can.

yes, you can run a 14..

aim higher..

all the above mods should net you about 190rwkw..

that should be good enough for a 13 of some sort.... with a bit of launch practice..

I had a 34 cooler on my 33. Great upgrade really. And easy to do. I fitted mine in the pouring rain without removing anything but the inner plastic guard in no time. Nissan did us all a favor when they designed the R34's cooler.

Wrap the dump eh? I was going to ask this when I changed mine.... anyway, R34SMIC works well for me. I started on 7psi with the manual ball and spring controller, then 9, now 10psi (as I get bored with the power) Seems to be fine, and power doesn't drop off as though there is massive heat-soak or anything.

I'm yet to hook up a temp probe to check this all out though.
