was wondering what a decent alarm + immobilior is for the r33 series 2,

preferably something available on ebay!

thanks.

Do you mean something cheap (no warranty) on ebay, that you can install yourself?

A good alarm and professional install is something that should not be skimped on, not when it comes to protecting ya baby!

I'm not going to bother....

actually I will.

I have a fellow flying me to ADL to do his. now if you want to spend nix on security for it then I would like your address pls. I need a donor 33 for the wreck I have here in brissy and yours sounds like it will fit the bill.

FFS spend the money on security. I had a kid come in a few days back that drove a jap S15 with NO INSURANCE at all . only reason he put an alarm on it was someone ALMOST succeeded in getting a parts car by cracking the column.

if you haven't go the money to :

- insure the car

-maintain the car

- secure the car

then in reality you probably shouldn't have it.

make sense..

I installed a mongoose M80AU in my r33 gtr last weekend. Yeah it got it off ebay but they are a reputable brand, and are locally supported. I installed the power window controller as well so it winds up the windows and locks the doors when you press the lock button on the remote.

Has turbo timer support as well.

It came with ultrasonic sensors, 2 stage shock sensor, bonnet switch sensor, battery backup siren, and a lot of wire. I was lucky that the previous owner of my car had left the drivers side central locking solenoid installed from the alarm they had removed from the car.

I dont recommended wiring this in for the feint hearted. I can wire in ecu's faster than this took. The time consuming part is locating the various factory circuits to splice into without a circuit diagram. And removing the interior without braking anything so I can run cable to the boot for power, imobilizers etc. Its a good time to re-wire a stereo at the same time, as i did.

Cheers,

Ian

any recommended suppliers/fitters on the gold coast (or brisbane if i have to)

another quick question - i don't have a remote button/key for my car (95 R33 GTS-t) - so a M80AU will provide this for me?

Take a trip northside for the day and get Chris to do it. At least speak to him about it first.

My alarm that he installed provides the remote locking, I'm sure he can fill in the details.

All you need is one door solenoid for the drivers side. It will use the factory one on the passenger side. The M80AU will fire these solenoids just fine, as it interfaces to the drivers side door controls for the central locking.

Yes defiantly have a pro do this unless your very good at electronics/wiring.

you are better off going to a specialised workshop, having a proper fitment with a product sold in australia with warranty.

You got the car, and if you wanna keep it safe it will cost you a few bucks.

And for Qld fitters see Chris.

also the mongoose alarms on ebay are seconds and have NO warranty regardless who fits them. they need to be sold (new) from a dealer for it to apply.

refer to my previous statements if you do not understand why a proper installation costs $$..

    • I would paint match the whole thing to avoid unwanted attention  I had a similar bonnet, paint matched, on my old R33 GTST, but mine was a fibreglass jobbie made by Blitz in QLD, they work extremely well for radiator efficiency and under bonnet temps

    • small update time, after always wanting a "cool" looking bonnet for my car and always struggling to find one for the series 2 that i liked and wasn't an insane amount of money. Saw one i liked on RHDjapan from D-speed in Japan the price was very good for a carbon bonnet so good infact i was a little unsure how much i trusted it, decided to bite the bullet and with the help of jesse streeter in not long at all it was at my door. Once it was delivered i ran in from work and quickly unboxed it and to my surprise the quality was actually pretty good i quickly removed the old bonnet and placed on the new one to test it out and even the fitment wasnt too bad at all. Then decided to paint the little grille in the bonnet black to stop it sticking out so much.   I decided to not mess around with the hood latch and just install some aero catch hood pins, having never installed them before did some YouTube university classes and i was good to go. fair to say it is not a fun job at all from making brackets so the pins sit nicely and actually cutting through the bonnet but also being very scared of cutting the holes too big it took wayyyy longer than i would like to admit but finally got it there. Then it was time for a quick test drive to ensure the latches actually worked and thankfully the bonnet looked very stable. I still think paint matching the bonnet and leaving just the part that sticks up as carbon would help make it all look alot neater as im not sure how i feel about all that carbon on a very fridge white car but will leave it as is and see how i feel with time.
    • I think it's bound to happen, you finally get it all perfect, and bam, something will happen. I took a while to get a Commodore rear quarter repaired where a P Plater clipped it. Two days after getting it back, Sarah wiped it out on a concrete pillar in an underground car park... This is why I take forever to repair them, it stretches how long until it gets bent again... 😛
    • Nah, not really responsible for that little fiasco, but I'm still pissed at myself for writing off my 86, or when I reversed my VX into a pole just before selling it, but, meh, 5hit happens to stuff, all it takes is a slight distraction, and life is full of distractions, and "dooh" moments
