Can someone decipher this wiring diagram for me.. Was running through it with Abobob, just want to make sure :P

It's for the Autogauge Temperature Gauges

post-19556-1180441046_thumb.jpg

So from what i can tell.. Red needs a 12V+ constant source..

Orange needs a lighting power source for dimmer function, e.g. cigarette lighter light power?..

C wire, taps into an ignition power source - cigarette power?

A,Black and Black on the sensor are all ground, does this look correct to people, can someone please confirm..

Also - quick update.. I managed to take out the fold down DIN tray last night, i've found the grommet I need to feed everything through, just waiting on a sunny day to do it.. bought some scotchclip things so I don't have to solder the wires. Will post photos as/when i'm done :/

Cheers

red is always 12v*, so your good there

the orange with a white stripe is your illum wire, makes it light up with your headlights, grab it from your stereo or lighter ifits there

C wire is most likely your accesories wire, grab that from your stereo

and black is most likely ground yes

:3some:

really the correct thing to do is to run all new lines to the fuse box... but i know you wont do that :worship: so steal shit from where your headunit is mounted and what not...

well, borrow is a more correct term...

*Disclaimer: ive seen some f**ked up shit... but most likely its positive

More like splitting the wire as opposed to "Borrow"

Dont forget to use HEAT SHRINK!!! Lovvvve that stuff! :worship:

Links: Guess your getting your car ready for BEST Interior at the shown shine with all these guages? lol :3some:

My guage install pics if you havent seen em: http://members.iinet.net.au/~doodz/car/din_guage/Done/

Hahaha, Doodz, your on the money, i'm gonna win the stock with interior bling award ..

Thanks Steven, don't think i'll wire it to the fuse box (no-one else seems to).. Looks like I was on the money, cheers for that, just need a free weekend to do it now..

  • 2 weeks later...

Ok, so I got around to wiring up the gauges today.. Managed to get the vacuum hose through the firewall via the coat hanger method...

Got a ground up and running, it does appear that my cigarette lighter's 12v wire is not working properly :) I had power for about 2 secs using my multimeter on it, than it went to 0, is there a fuse for the lighter??

So next I wired it up, but got a constant 12v wire so even when it was off I had power to the gauge :P oops.. So tomorrow i'll have to hunt for a new wire that I can piggy back or run a new one from the ignition..

Also - did anyone have any issues with the justjap din holder for the gauges?

I just got these gauges, the wiring in my 32 was pretty simple.

Green wire goes to the sender.

If you want the gauges to light up white all the time (with or without the headlights on), wire the red and the white to an ignition wire. Red and orange to ign if you want amber all the time.

If you want it white during the day and amber at night, wire the red and white to ign and the orange to your headlight switch.

Vice versa if you want amber during the day and white at night (swap white and orange around).

just put a test lamp to a wire with ign off, then turn ign on and see if it lights up, then theres your wire.

Theres one that should go to the headunit, usually red as well. If you have a turbo timer, the power wire to that would do nicely. Or if you're really desperate, find the power windows power wire.

I grounded mine to the cigarette lighter

The warnings are preset.

Let me know how you go with your oil pressure one, i seem to be having problems with mine.

When the engine is revving, the gauge seems to work, but once it's idling, it drops to 0.

Ive got another sender to put in but i havent gotten around to that just yet.

I had to cut a few bits of my dash out and move the aircon controls to get the DIN plate to fit.

Edit: Just re-read that you don't have an oil pressure one....

    • Nissan/Pitwork is fine stuff. HKS is just marketing wank. I personally wouldn't do the idler if it is already new. If it looks and feels fine, it is fine. But as D says - it's cheap to add it to the job. The water pump ditto. Even more so. If it show no signs of problems, then it is nearly new - leave it.
    • 1. I can't see a location on your profile but you do mention GBP so I'll assume you are in UK. In Australia, CBC make a timing belt kit with the gears and idler and tension bearing and that is what I use without any problems. I'm sure OEM or HKS are also fine but I wouldn't pay extra for HKS over anything else. 2. Yes, I would always change the idler and tensioner and the stud and bolt that hold them in. Assuming they were all done last time it is highly unlikely you would have a problem, but they are very cheap to add to the job considering the time it will take anyway.  3. No, you don't need to lock them as such (I think that is more for engines without timing marks), but you should make sure they move as little as possible once the belt is off as you can hit pistons on valves if they move too far. As always, make sure you line it all up to top dead centre with the timing marks aligned before you take the old belt off.

    • Hey everyone,   I’m looking for some advice on replacing the timing belt on my RB25DET Neo-powered 1998 Skyline. The engine was fully built about five years ago, including a fresh timing belt, water pump, and other essentials. However, since then, the car has only covered around 2,000–3,000 miles. It’s currently making around 650hp.   Even though the mileage is low, I know timing belts have a time-based lifespan too, and most recommendations suggest changing them every five to six years or 50,000 miles. Since I’m at that time mark, I’d rather not take any risks and plan to swap it out soon.   A few things I’d like to hear opinions on: 1. What’s the best belt for this setup? Should I go with an OEM Nissan belt, or is the HKS fine-tune a better choice given the power level? 2. Would you bother replacing the idler pulley and tensioner at the same time, or only if they show wear? 3. When swapping the belt, is it necessary to lock the cam and crank gears in place, or is lining up the timing marks enough? I’ve seen different approaches, and I want to make sure I do it right.   The water pump was changed with the rebuild and isn’t run off the timing belt, so I don’t see a need to replace it again. I just want to make sure I approach this the right way.   Any insight would be much appreciated. Thanks!
