Hey, I'm just wondering if anyone knows how much 4WD drops off your average 1/4 mile (say for example the 4wd in gtr's or rexies)

ok so lets say (and these are theoretical) 1/4 mile times

a 1250kg gts-t with standard suspension/tyres

a 1250kg gst-t with awd with standard suspension/tyres

also

a 200rwkw r32 gts-t with standard suspension/tyres

a stock r32 gtr (around 200awkw) with standard suspension/tyres (12.8-13)

I'm just trying to get a rough idea

Also lets take a standard r32 GTR (200awkw and about a 13 second 1/4) and put it in rwd mode, what kind of quarter are we looking at?

Thanks, just trying to get a general idea of how much the improved take off drops the 1/4

Too many variables to give a definitive answer. A well sorted rear wheel drive can launch as hard as an all wheel drive so. Pound for pound it should have a slight advantage due to its slightly lighter weight.

If you specify stock tho, the awd wins it hands down. AWD vs RWD on street rubber is a no bariner.

Hmm thanks, starting to get an idea..

So we could muse that a stock r32 gtr that run a 13.0 1/4 in AWD mode on street tyres, would run a 13.2 second 1/4 in RWD mode on street tyres (pulling the fuse, so same weight)?

Hey, just to bump this up, i got a r32gtr and it doesn't really seem very fast at all.. gts-t seemeed much faster >.<

Can anyone make a rough estimate as to what time it would see in RWD and then in AWD (unfused and fused), keeping in mind the extra kilograms and such.. i'm just trying to figure out the difference a 6k clutch dump and lotsa traction in a gtr makes over a 3k drop in a RWD car (to avoid slippage), am talking over a 1/4 of a mile

Also r32 gts-t hit 14.5ish and r32 gts-4's hit around 15 flat right? sup with that.. the awd certainly isn't an advantage over the 1/4 with those two.

Generally an average of 0.4sec difference in the 60ft time with a GTR (1.660ft) vs a RWD car of around 2.0 60ft.

So by track end its upto half a sec if not more.

Again, still to many factors to be solid.

A stock GTR should be into the 13's. Which puts it .5 of a sec over the GTSt already based on your 14.5

um so flat 14 for teh gtr.... OK thanks that explains why it doesn't feel as fast as my old one (once i had 34 turbs installed)

That also puts sti's into gts-t territory, 14.5ish (well except for take off obviously) oO

Guess the gtr is as fast as my old one flat sticking it in 2nd/3rd which explains why i wasn't happy with it.. guess it's twin 2860 time then

    • Hey all, not sure how active SAU is anymore but will ask away anyways. Just wanted to get some experience on the 2008 model GTR CBA model.  I've hit that age in my life (43) where I'm like fk it time to get my dream (midlife crisis) car. Looking at importing one in and seeing if these can be reliable if the main flaws are fixed up. Plan is to keep money aside to do the following straight off the bat to future proof it: * install a stage 1 rebuilt trans with all new bits and pieces.  * install a new Bellhousing from the later model GTRs. Or potentially an upgraded stronger version like MAD or ATR. Besides the above two things and typical maintenance items anything else you'd recommend doing.   Been speaking to a few people and the engine on these are very reliable apparently. But keen on the view of the community here. Hoping to find a nice grade 4.5 with low mileage in Grey. I'd go black but swirls too easy. Look forward to your responses and feedback. Cheers

    • Hey all, I'm Gaston from Sydney's West.  I was a member on here when I was a younger lad and owned a mint R33 GTS-T. Ended up selling it and getting married having kids (yadda yadda) we all know how the story goes. Now I'm back with the intention to get my midlife crisis (dream) car ... a R35 GTR.  You'll see me about asking questions and searching the forums. Good to be back and can't wait to get back an Import again.
