just seeing if anyone can give me some advise on what to do, last night i was parked at bp waiting to get petrol when the car in front me of me decided to reverse out of the line but didnt see my car behind him, and he ended up backing into my car smashing my front bar and indicator. I got his number plate and mobile, should i report the incident to the police? any other advise would be greatly apprciated

Well if the damage (to both cars) is over $1000 you're legally supposed to report it to the police. Standard procedure is to ring up your insurance company and tell them what happened and they'll sort it out. You can always go around the insurance company and try to get the other person to pay for your repair but this rarely ends well and isn't worth the hassle.

go insurance company

ring the person what you intend to do, get their info and then contact your insurance company

if they wont give you their detail, then ask your insurance company what they can do, specially since you got there number and plate
