eekkk.. help... Possible bad fuel?

I slapped $20 in (was on the red) from a Mobil servo down near cross roads that I have never used before.

The initial drive back home which is a couple of km's was ok the car felt normal responsive etc.

NOW..

The next time I took it out at first it was ok then I went to hit boost coming up flagstaff hill road and noticed that it felt very flat.. As if boost wasn't being made, I looked down at the boost guage and sure enough it was making plenty of boost near 15psi.

It feels like there is almost no difference between 5 and 15psi.

I then pulled over and checked out a few things but all seemed in order.

I then took off on standard boost (11psi) and what it feels like is it is really flat then all of a sudden on 11psi it sort of takes off but feels like it is hesitating slightly. I can't hear any pinging and timing is at standard.

sounds like fuel or may be dirty fuel filter doing its job getting rid of the dirt.

First 'worrying' problem i've had with it.

I did the fuel filter when I first bought the car.. So that was hrmm 60k ago.. Time for a new one any way

yeh id say fuel as well

my car ran in a similar way when i drove on the fuel which had been sitting in the tank for a month cos the car had been off the road. i also ran a bottle of injector cleaner through the next tank, may be coincedental but it made a fair bit of difference...

I had this problem when I ran my tank bone dry I think there was crap in the bottom and it got sucked into the fuel filter. New filter and a fill up at the servo I normally use and all was well again

I'm pretty sure its the fuel. I've fiddled with it a bit and pretty confident.

Quick question - where is the fuel filter ? and what does it look like ? Plastic/steel case ?

Just above the Oil Filter in a small bracket. The replacement is a Z202 from memory. Before you change it leave your car for about 1.5hrs so the mess isn't as big.

Fuel is gone.. All better now

Amazing how much power it lost and how it makes your motor feel like some thing is drastically wrong.

Wont be buying from that servo again.
